(028) 2827 2258 PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE The Eighteenth NORTHERN IRELAND OPEN ACCORDION CHAMPIONSHIPS held in the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Carrickfergus (formerly known as the Clarion) on Saturday 28 February 2015 were another huge success with reaction from spectators and competitors alike being very favourable towards the festival which ran like clockwork in a relaxed and friendly spirit. Organised by Clyde Johnston it is the largest accordion festival held in Northern Ireland and attracted a record 240 entries. The Championships are recognised by the National Accordion Organisation of the United Kingdom as a qualifier for the UK Championships, held later in the year in Liverpool and Clyde was delighted to again welcome competitors from the Chilton School of Music in Co.Cavan and Gerry Kelly’s Accordion School from Co Meath. There were also other entries from Co.Meath, Co.Dublin, Southern England and Glasgow in addition to the local competitors and trade stands by Rolston Accordions and Rob Howard which greatly enhanced the Festival. The adjudicators were Ivan Black, Audrey Gillian and Philip Hammond. They were greatly impressed not only by the high standard of playing but also with the smooth and efficient manner in which the Championships were run. Star performers were K&S Advanced Orchestra under the direction of Gerry Kelly from Co Cavan along with Jonathan -

THE CODE OF PRACTICE FOR FILM PRODUCTION IN NORTHERN IRELAND Northern Ireland Screen promotes Northern Ireland nationally and internationally as an important location for the production of films for cinema and television. Northern Ireland Screen provides a fully comprehensive information service, free of charge, to film and television producers from all over the world. WHY A CODE OF PRACTICE? Northern Ireland Screen is here to help complete projects safely and efficiently. We bring together all bodies affected by film-making and work with them and the general public to ensure a more film friendly environment. The creation of a code of practice for production companies to follow when filming on location in Northern Ireland will ensure closer co-operation with the public and better management on the ground. The object of this code of practice is to maximise Northern Ireland’s potential as a location while safe guarding the rights of its residents. Northern Ireland Screen encourages all feature film producers to agree to abide by this code of practice. NB: This Code of Practice is not intended for news and documentary crews of five persons or less. Whenever this document refers to film and film production, the term includes all other visual media such as television, commercials, corporate and music videos, cable, satellite etc. This document contains a declaration that all producers are requested to sign. Welcome to Historic Hillclimb On behalf of the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum I’d like to welcome visitors, MSA Permit No. 77085 for Saturday 14th June 2014 participants and the officials of the TSCC to our 2014 Cultra Hillclimb Event. On the 6th May 1905 the gentlemen of the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club gathered at the Kennedy Family Estate, for a motor meet and hillclimb event. The MSA Steward Donald Grieve unique co-operation between the Museum and the Thoroughbred Sports Car Club Club Stewards Paul Boyle(BMMC), Michael Wilson(TSCC) has revived this piece of motoring heritage. The first enumeration took place in 1926 and incorporated questions relating to occupation and industry, orphanhood and infirmities. The second enumeration made in 1937 was of more limited scope and was intended to bridge the gap between the census of 1926 and the census which it was proposed to take in 1941, but which had to be abandoned owing to the outbreak of war. The census taken as at mid-night of 8th-9th April, 1951, forms the basis of this report and like that in 1926 questions were asked as to the occupations and industries of the population. The length of time required to process the data collected at an enumeration before it can be presented in the ultimate reports is necessarily considerable. In order to meet immediate requirements, however, two Preliminary Reports on the 1951 census were published. The first of these gave the population figures by administrative areas and towns and villages, and by Counties and County Boroughs according to religious pro fession. The Second Report, which was restricted to Counties and County Boroughs, gave the population by age groups. -
