  • Štys P. the Stridulatory Mechanism in Centrocoris Spiniger (F.)
ACTA ENTOMOLOGICA MUSEI NATIONALIS PRAGAE 1 9 6 1, X X X I V, 59 2 !--- THE STRIDULATORY MECHANISM IN CENTROCORIS SPINIGER (F.) AND SOME OTHER CQREIDAE (HETEROPTERA) PAVEL STYS (Chair of Systematic Zoology, Charles University, Praha) Introduction · Leston (1957) has summarized the knowledge of stridulatory mecha- . nisms in terrestrial species of Heteroptera. The ability to stridulate was ascertained in 11 terrestrial families of bugs, and 14 types of stridulatory organs have already been registered. In a number of groups (Acanthoso midae, some subfamilies of Pentatomidae, Coreidae) the ability to stridu late was ascertained, but the stridulatory mechanisms have not yet been discovered. It follows from the Leston's summary that the ability to stridulate was alreadyregistered in 3 genera of the family Coreidae: Phyllomorpha Lap., Spathocera Stein and Centrocoris Kolen. However, the stridulatory mechanism is still not known in any of these genera*). Saunders (1893) had noticed that Centrocoris spiniger (Fabricius, 1781) "stridulates loudly", but he did not give more particulars. During my excursion to the western coast of the Caucasus in June 1960 I had an opportunity to collect the mentioned species, to observe its stridulation and to discover its stridulatory meC1hanism. Field observations Centrocoris spiniger (F.) is very common insect on the western coast of the Caucasus. In the period 21st to 28th June 1960 I found it many times (also in copula) in several places near the towns Tuapse and Sochi, always associated with its host-plant Anthemis tinctoria L. (det. V. Ska licky). I failed to hear stridulation of the free specimens on the plants.

The rivers or rivulets which flow from the southern slope of these mountains, as well as all territories to the south of them, will thus belong to China. The territories and rivers to the north of the said mountain chain remain with the Empire o£ Muscovy. The boundary is further to be found by the river Argun, which enters the Amur; the tenitories south of the said river belong to the Emperor of China, those to the north of it to the Empire of Muscovy. The towns or dwelling-houses at present situated to the south of the Argun shall be moved to the northern bank of the river. 2. The fortress built by the Russians at a place called Atbazeir shall be demolished, and the subjects of the Tsar residing there shall remove with their property to Muscovite territory. Hunters of either empire shall on no pretence cross the frontiers. If one or two persons cross the frontier to hunt, steal, or pilfer, they shall be arrested and given up to the nearest Imperial officers to be punished according to their deserts. In case, however, armed parties of ten or fifteen people cross the frontiers to hunt or plunder, or in case of any person being killed, a report shall be sent in to both emperors, and the parties found guilty shall be punished with death.

  • Hemiptera: Heteroptera) with a Review of the Eggs of This Family
ACTA ENTOMOLOGICA MUSEI NATIONALIS PRAGAE Published 30.vi.2010 Volume 50(1), pp. 75–95 ISSN 0374-1036 The external morphology of eggs of three Rhopalidae species (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) with a review of the eggs of this family Jitka VILÍMOVÁ & Markéta ROHANOVÁ Charles University, Faculty of Science, Department of Zoology, Viničná 7, CZ-128 44 Praha 2, Czech Republic; e-mail: [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract. The external morphology of eggs and manner of oviposition of three rhopalid species, Brachycarenus tigrinus (Schilling, 1829), Chorosoma schillingi (Schilling, 1829) and Rhopalus (Aeschyntelus) maculatus (Fieber, 1837) are described. The eggs were studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and the results complete previous observations. The emphasis of the study is on the characteristics of eggs and details of oviposition in representatives of the family Rhopalidae. The chorionic origin of attachment stalk was confi rmed only in the Chorosomatini. A completely smooth egg chorion was recognized in R. (A.) maculatus, as a unique condition within at least the Pentatomomorpha. Key words. Rhopalidae, Rhopalini, Chorosomatini, Brachycarenus tigrinus, Cho- rosoma schillingi, Rhopalus (Aeschyntelus) maculatus, egg structure, micropylar processes, chorion, attachment stalk, oviposition Introduction Heteroptera eggs have a stable shape due to a sclerotized chorion. Egg morphology is helpful for taxonomic and phylogenetic purposes. The morphology of heteropteran eggs varies distinctly among taxa; for details see two monographs: SOUTHWOOD (1956) and COB- BEN (1968). Both authors mentioned that the eggs of the coreoid family Rhopalidae have a specifi c morphological pattern (e.g. two micropylar processes). SOCIETY. COMMUNICATION» REGIONAL CONCEPTS VERBALIZATION IN TRANSBAIKAL TERRITORY MEDIA DISCOURSE Yulia Shchurina (a)*, Maria Vyrupaeva (b), Anastasia Ivanova (c) *Corresponding author (a) Transbaikal State University, Chita, Russian Federation, [email protected] (b) Transbaikal State University, Chita, Russian Federation (c) Transbaikal State University, Chita, Russian Federation Abstract The article deals with the features of locally marked concepts objectification of the regional level, conventionally called regional concepts, in the media space of the Transbaikal Krai territory. The authors offer their own definition of the concept “regional concept”. The study of locally marked concepts and their verbalization in regional media texts is carried out within the framework of a cognitive language approach. The paper presents concepts that represent the image of Transbaikal in the modern media sphere: “Guran”, “bagulnik” and “Sagaalgan”; they are described by means of conceptual analysis, which involves the study of the verbal representations semantics of these concepts, and contextual analysis, which actualizes the elements of the concepts meaning when creating lexemes-representatives in certain contexts. Identifying the content of the conceptual and figurative components of the concepts “Guran”, “bagulnik” and “Sagaalgan”, the authors determine the typical characteristics of the regional concept, suggesting that they are considered key ones for conducting research of this kind: recognition, territorial consolidation, symbolism and high frequency of use in a positive evaluation context. The conclusion is made about the close semantic relationship and interdependence of regional concepts that form a larger conceptual combination – hyperconcept (“Transbaikal”).
