Possible Problems. This paper reviews the aspects of the SAS environment that make it so challenging to analyze. The paper goes on to explain some of the techniques that SAS Technical Support uses to diagnose and solve these issues. For example, the discussion demonstrates how to use log analysis to rule in, or rule out, contributors to the source of the problem. In addition, you will discover how to use high-frequency thread dumps to identify specific problematic components. The discussion also covers how you can use network analysis to measure and identify specific inter-process delays in specific components. Case studies illustrate all the techniques that are presented.
