The DMS Schedule of Courses for Training Year (TY) 17/18 should be read in conjunction with single Service regulations regarding the general administration of training. General 2. Information regarding particular courses is available from the single Service Customer Agents or via Training Delivery Units (TDUs). 3. The Schedule of Courses has been produced following the Statement of Trained Requirement / Task (SOTR/SOTT) process carried out with the single Service Customer Agents, the Training Providers and HQ Defence Healthcare Education and Training (DHET). 4. The Schedule includes: a. Courses delivered by the Defence College of Healthcare Education and Training (DCHET) at TDUs principally the Defence School of Healthcare Education (DSHE) or the Defence School of Heallthcare Training (DSHT). More information about DSHE courses located at Birmingham City University can be found at: www.bcu.ac.uk/defence-healthcare-education. b. Scheduled external courses as agreed in the SOTT. It should be noted that: a. Matters concerning policy or Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enquiries or course design should be addressed through the single Service manning authorities or single Service Customer Agents. Units or course loaders are strongly advised to check if an application for `Enhanced or `standard DBS is required for attendance at a DCHET Course.Please refer to :DHET CRB/DBS POLICY dated 1 Mar 14. b. The maximum number of students on each course cannot be exceeded without approval from higher authority. Any requirement to increase the agreed loading should be formally addressed to Headquarters DHET via the relevant single Service Customer Agent. In the event of a course being over-subscribed, the single Service Customer Agent will be responsible for deciding the priorities. The minimum loading detailed is set to reflect various academic and practical requirements. Un addition, DHET and it's customers have agreed a Performance target of 95% loading for all courses. c. Requests for courses in addition to this Schedule should be forwarded to the relevant single Service Customer Agent for staffing. Training resources are at a premium and priority will be given to support Operational commitments. d. Applications from Reserves may be submitted three months or more in advance of course start date. Personnel will be notified if their application is successful at the earliest opportunity. 7. Individual application forms for courses are at Annex A. One application form should be used for each course applied for. Additionally, the definition of Bidding Categories is at Annex B and the Army prioritisation matrix for Army Courses run at DCHET is at Annex C. 8. When applying for courses individuals/units are requested to: a. Forward individual application forms/nominal rolls to the lead TDU unless indicated otherwise by the bidding category or notes. b. Application forms are to include Official Number, Rank / Rate / Title, Surname and Initials and Parent Unit. The gender of the candidate is to be included to ensure accommodation is available. Application forms are to be forwarded to the Crse Applications Gp Mailbox, no later than 6 weeks prior to course commencement. c. If applicable, for Army Courses apply the appropriate Priority Category to the application (using the process at Annex C). d. Provide a short justification statement on the Application Form; this will aid in prioritising placements on heavily subscribed courses. Specify any Operational Taskings, Postings, Real Life Support tasks as evidence. e. For courses where personnel are nominated by single Service Manning Authorities (Category A) nominal rolls are to be forwarded to the relevant TDU, no later than 6 weeks prior to course commencement. Routine name changes can be undertaken up to 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the Course urgent operational requirements /late applications/ names changes after this deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis. all cancellations must be made at the earliest opportunity; all No-shows will be investigated. g. Eligibility for Cat B courses can be found in the DSHE course prospectus, available form DCHET on 94422-5013/5015 (mil) or 01543-475013/5015 [email protected] Joining Instructions 9. Joining Instructions will be dispatched to Parent Units no later than 4 weeks prior to the start of the course. Pay / Pay As You Dine (PAYD) / Joint Personnel Administration (JPA) Allowances and Travelling Expenses 10. Students on short courses should make adequate financial arrangements prior to course commencement with their parent unit. All students need to be aware that training will be delivered on sites that are PAYD sites and therefore students need to make the necessary financial arrangements to be able to pay for their meals for the duration of the course or to be able to claim it back if their unit is not yet on PAYD. All TDUs afford students full access to JPA facilities. Leave 11. Leave will not be granted and travel warrants will not be issued other than for Phase 2 students. All personnel are to be on duty for the duration of the course. Course places will not be offered to individuals during extended periods of leave e.g. maternity, sick leave. Dress, Clothing and Equipment 12. Requirements will be specified in individual Joining Instructions. Reporting and Assembly 13. Details will be given in individual Joining Instructions. Some DSHE short courses are delivered in Birmingham with accommodation provided at local hotels, as detailed within the individual Joining Instructions. Units will be liable for hotel charges if their personnel who have been selected to attend courses cancel with 14 days of the course start date or fail to attend.
