We caught up with Haywyre to talk about Two Fold , and the role of opposition in art. Any Perceived Difference is Also a Deep Connection: Words with Haywyre. BitTorrent: How did you get started? What experiences are you looking to explore or draw out in your music? Haywyre: It started with my parents enrolling me in piano lessons when I was six. I remember spending hours in front of my dad’s Yamaha keyboard for fun. My inspiration to go full-time had always been present; the decision to go full-time, however, was made after seeing enough support from my fan base to drop out of college and begin focusing my energy on producing and performing my work. My work tends to be an eclectic combination of sounds inspired by classical, jazz and a wide range of electronic music; different aspects of all tend to show themselves in various shapes and forms. Much of what I make is heavily inspired by philosophical concepts that I embrace, but of course I also channel much of my raw, instinctive emotion into my music as well. What role does performance and visual art play in your work? The art of performance is one of the aspects of electronic music that excites me the most. Instead of being essentially limited to a single sound when playing an instrument for example, the possibilities are pretty much endless when it comes to showcasing live electronic music. I tend to focus on portraying my love for keyboard dexterity and improvisation. It has also been a staple in building my career, as my live performance videos seem be the ones that resonate the most with fans. I hope that performance-based electronic music continues to gain momentum; I also hope that there’s less pressure follow the scene’s stereotypes; to create music that’s geared towards “pleasing the dance culture”. Two Fold Pt. 1 was an incredible, rightly-acclaimed album. What was your process towards developing Pt. 2 ? What inspired you to take the double album approach? The double album approach felt natural, considering that the concept behind them is a very meaningful one. The interplay between opposites has long been a favorite for philosophers. What started as a curiosity quickly turned into a full-fledged personal quest, as I found ways to relate the ideas of duality and the unity of opposites to many parts of life. Random tiny bits (such as quotes from greek philosophers Heraclitus and Parmenides) and larger pieces (Tao Of Physics by Fritjof Capra) of content heavily inspired me and helped me shape the project into, what I believe to be, a unique expression of philosophical thought and insightful emotion through a variety of interwoven, electronically produced pieces. How does Pt. 2 relate to, evolve, or shift the narrative and sound of Pt. 1? What can we expect from Two Fold Pt. 2 ? The idea behind Pt. 2 is an adaptation of the first. Pt. 1 was focusing on how opposites mold the lens through which we view our world. In contrast, Pt. 2 explores the concept of the unity in opposites. Instead of trying to explain these in more details, I'll break it down like this: Pt. 1: We are defined by our actions and thoughts, but also by what we don't do and think. Similarly, silence defines music just as much as sound itself. This relationship between absence and presence that characterizes our life is the philosophical foundation for Two Fold: Pt 1 . This album explores duality through simplicity and complexity, organic and synthetic, energetic and calm. Pt. 2: Every concept, every notion has a counterpart; yet, every ideas opposite is just the absence of the idea itself. Absence is the absence of presence; presence is the absence of absence. Any perceived difference is in fact also a deep connection. In this way, opposing forces are unified. The world becomes a collaborative web of interdependent pieces. Haywyre Releases \”Two Fold Pt. 2\” [Free Download] Ever since Haywyre released his debut Monstercat album, Two Fold Pt. 1 , in early 2014, the glitchy dance music phenomenon has been making waves with his highly original productions–which incorporates live instrumentals and fuses elements of hip-hip, jazz theory, and electronic music to define a genre all its own. The Monstercat boy wonder has opened for Zedd, Mat Zo, Gramatik, and even headlined his own small tour. Now the Minneapolis native, better known as Martin Vogt, has released the long awaited Part Two addition to the Two Fold series (which he has been teasing for months) along with the funky single, \”Do You Don\’t You\” (which you can <3 on Hype Machine here). All in all the LP is a masterpiece, which comes as unsurprising to fans and critics of the committed life-long musician. According to a YourEDM Artist Spotlight interview, \”He’s been studying piano since the age of six, and grew up with a penchant for music in Austria when he was little.\” The first tracks, \”I Am Me,\” comes as an epic introduction that sets up listeners to come on a musical journey of sorts, immediately followed by \”I Am You,\” which connects Haywyre with his audience intimately through bouncy robotic vocal chops and his usual synths. Another track that stands out is the future bass banger, \”Impulse,\” which was released just 5 days ago, with its heavy bass lines that completely change the tempo of the song after the first drop. Although all the tracks are my favorite in their own way, the song I have playing on repeat is \”Do You Don\’t You,\” which actually serves as the perfect follow-up to \”Impulse\” with it\’s very similar future bass lines. The track is bouncy with lyrics that are intensely reminiscent of his \”Everchanging,\” although the tracks sound nothing alike beyond the typical Haywyre chimes he constantly laces all his tracks with. This young star is definitely a musical auteur in his own right. Haywyre expertly arranges the songs of the album, with \”Endlessly\” bringing the entire piece to a happy close, and provides the perfect extension to it\’s Part One predecessor. But decide for yourself! You can stream the entire album below or, better yet, grab the \’Two Fold Pt. 2\” FREE DOWNLOAD (via Bit Torrent) to add to your music library. Haywyre – Two Fold Pt. 2 Album : Must Hear 9 Track Album Stream [Free Download] Haywyre gave us a taste of his upcoming LP Two Fold Pt. 2- – which follows up 2014s Two Fold Pt. 1— with a live performance video of "Endlessly" only to continue the hype with the crazy good "Do You Don't You" shortly after that. Both releases had us eager to hear the project in full. Now finally, that day has come. The producer and multi-instrumentalist brings us Two Fold Pt. 2 today via BitTorrent. In this new age of rabid consumption and shortened attention spans, Haywyre offers a refreshingly cohesive, conceptual album. The project has Haywyre exhibiting his ability to convey a vast array of emotion and styles as he rocks his signature synthesizer almost like a guitar. Though the project delves from deep house tracks like "Impulse" to new age funk jams like "Memory," an overarching spaced-out theme continues throughout. With this incredible 9 track LP, it's safe to say Haywyre is here to stay. Head over to BitTorrent to download the project along with a ton of free goodies. We recommend taking a seat and enjoying this one start to finish. Haywyre two fold pt 2 full album download. One of the most curious, if not the most curious question on everyone’s minds is how this differs from Two Fold Pt. 1 . First and foremost is the stark contrast in the artwork, where Pt. 1 displays a bright and natural landscape, as compared to Pt. 2 ’s man-made futuristic city, blanketed by a night sky. Image courtesy of Bandcamp. It’s an accurate representation as to what one will hear on each album – Pt. 1 has more of a transcendent (and slightly organic) feel to it, whereas Pt. 2 sports a “pre-manufactured” and synthesized vibe, especially given the increased prevalence of altered/robotic vocals heard throughout. Two Fold Pt. 2 itself is meant to be listened to in order, for the most fluidity between songs. Yet, despite each track intricately tying into its adjacent neighbour(s), they can easily hold their own, given the varying difference between each. There were a few songs that really stood out in the album for me: If the album is represented as the futuristic city depicted in the artwork, then Impulse would be the subterranean district hidden below the Metropolis.
