Članak proučava nastanak reakcije, odnosno lo djelovanje povjesničara umjetnosti i konzervatora, ali i razvitak nostalgije te početke istraživanja gradske povijesti tijekom jednog arhitekta. Taj fenomen nije bio osamljen u poratnoj 1950-ih i konzervatorske službe u okrilju Narodnog odbora grada Hrvatskoj. Using the public “face” of memory – monuments, museums and commemorations – I contend that Croatia’s narrative of self and self- sacrifice (hence “KRVatska” – a portmanteau of “blood/krv” and “Croatia/Hrvatska”) is divided between praising “defenders”/“branitelji”, selectively remembering its victims/“žrtve”, and silencing the Serb minority. While this divide is partially dependent on geography and the various ways the Croatian War for Independence came to an end in Dalmatia and Slavonia, the “defender” narrative remains preeminent.     February 13, 1992 Volume 4, Issue 4 His Excellency Franjo Tudjman President of the Republic of Croatia Radi ev Trg 2 41000 Zagreb Croatia Dear President Tudjman: The U.S. Helsinki Watch Committee is deeply concerned by reports of serious human rights abuses by forces responsible to the Croatian government and by individual extremists in Croatia. Our own investigations of these reports, conducted during a series of fact-finding missions to Croatia in the past year, indicate that many of these reports are well-founded. We call upon you to investigate the abuses enumerated in this letter and to punish those responsible for them. We call upon you to take immediate measures to ensure that such violations of human rights do not occur again. The abuses described in this letter include violations of the laws of war in the current conflict between Croatian and Serbian forces and the Yugoslav army, including the summary execution of civilians and disarmed combatants; the torture and mistreatment of detainees; arbitrary arrests and disappearances; destruction of civilian property and the killing of journalists covering the war. In addition to violations connected with the war, Helsinki Watch has also documented restrictions on freedom of expression and the press and interference with the independence of the judiciary. Finally, we are gravely concerned about the harassment, discrimination and rising violence against Serbs not engaged in the armed conflict in Croatia.     Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe OSCE Mission to Croatia News in brief 19 July - 13 September 2005 Protests by Croat parents against Serb teachers in Dalj Primary School bring public attention to inter-ethnic coexistence in the schools Issues affecting inter-ethnic relations at a school in Eastern Slavonia have been in the spotlight in the run-up to the start of the school year 2005-2006. Media reported that on 5 September, around 200 Croat pupils boycotted the first school day at the Dalj primary school, near Vukovar. A few days earlier, their parents had sent a petition to the Ministry of Education opposing the decision of the School Principal to assign three ethnic Serb teachers to their children because these teachers had allegedly participated in the war against Croatia in the 1990s. In a meeting with Croat parents, the teachers and the School Principal, representatives of the Ministry of Education decided to re-assign the three Serb teachers to different classes in the same school or other schools. The physical separation of Croat and Serb pupils in some schools in Eastern Slavonia has been a topic of increased interest for the Mission since the last visit of the High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) in February. During his meetings with top Croatian officials, the High Commissioner expressed concern over the physical separation of pupils along ethnic lines and emphasized the need to integrate national minority students in the Croatian society, while ensuring the right of minority students to minority language education. When he visited Eastern Slavonia and met with local authorities at the end of August, HoM continued to stress the importance of education issues.
