GIRLS Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (58) def. Ballarat Rush (39) Sari Mowbray set the tone for her Sea Eagles, splitting the opposition defence with ease to sink 21 points overall and while the Rush created opportunities through Millie Simpson at the top of the key, they struggled to convert through the contest as Manly performed for the full 32 minutes.

GIRLS Forestville Eagles (66) def. South West Metro Pirates (45) A tight contest through the first term was finally broken open by Forestville near quarter-time although the momentum swung between both sides before the main break. Jessica Simmonds (28 points) pushed the Eagles into a dominant position as the game wore on to answer the best efforts of Lil Dart who fought hard all morning.

GIRLS Hawthorn Magic (83) def. Sth Tasmania Kangaroos (47) The Magic applied frantic pressure throughout the game and once their shots began falling, they proved too strong for the Kangaroos behind the performances of Denzel Timmons and Jordan Lin. Luke Brown starred for Southern Tasmania.

BOYS Illawarra Hawks (67) def. Canberra Gunners (58) Canberra were on song defensively from the outset but missed a couple of big shots from long range while Illawarra pounded the ball inside courtesy of Massimo Hobbs. When Hobbs sat, the change was drastic with the Gunners and Andrew Do pulling the lead back to enter into a thrilling final term. Cam Pender took over at the defensive end for the Gunners and got the deficit even closer but Alexei Pilijevic settled things for the Hawks as they claimed an important win.

BOYS Eltham Wildcats (68) def Northern Tasmania Tigers (30) Eltham continued their high pace and lethal transition offence in their second game against North Tasmania. Early on, the Wildcats’ length led to multiple stops as they opened up a double-digit lead and from there they were never headed in a complete performance.

BOYS Sydney Comets (72) def. Perry Lakes Hawks (46) Sydney came out running against Perry Lakes, with the Comets transition game only let down by some missed opportunities. The Hawks played patiently in their half-court offense, giving big man Kauri Tipene-Grace a chance to work inside and keep the Hawks close early on but Trangi Speedy Coe continued to wreak havoc on the defensive end and once the Comets were able to convert those opportunities, they ran away with a strong victory. . 2017 Australian U14 Club Championships DAILY DRIBBLE Game Reports U16 Championships - Boys & Girls

GIRLS Sydney Comets (71) def. Southern Tigers (26) The Comets set the tone opening up a ten-point lead in the opening minutes and they moved freely across the court to share the scoring load, paced by Tenayah Logan and Alexandra Kayrouz. The Tigers lifted their defensive pressure and were able to unsettle Sydney momentarily but as they regained their composure, they pulled out to a game-high margin to finish off the Tigers.

GIRLS Eltham Wildcats (70) def. Southern Tasmania Kangaroos (19) Despite facing a tall Kangaroos outfit, the Wildcats’ mosquito fleet were unstoppable and capitalised on every opportunity through Genevieve Broadbent and Sophie Burrows as they gained a 20-point lead in the opening half and while Claire Ransom fought hard to keep her team alive, every Eltham player hit the scoreboard in a big win.

GIRLS Sturt Sabres (50) def. Maitland Mustangs (27) Sturt’s aggression presented a problem for the Mustangs from the outset and Taylor Moffat dominated at both ends of the court. A rejuvenated Maitland outfit began to find space and execute offensive transitions in the second half which saw the margin reduced to four points late in the third term but the Sabres returned to their first quarter ways and pulled away for the victory.

GIRLS Darwin Cyclones (37) def. by Dandenong Rangers (85) Dandenong came out of the blocks with efficient half-court and transition offense as Myah Healey was in everything early, dominating the glass on both ends to push the Rangers in transition or to put second-chance buckets up against the Cyclones. The second half followed a similar script despite the best efforts of Dallas Loughridge who was able to connect on a couple of good looks.

BOYS Norwood Flames (77) def. Mackay Meteors (44) Norwood continued their strong play from the first day, coming out firing against Mackay with Dash Kimber lighting up the Meteors to gain an early lead. Jake McDonald and Baden Robinson battled hard but ultimately Mackay were unable to stop the Flames’ offence, orchestrated by Kimber and Henry Nind.

BOYS Rockingham Flames (56) def. Geelong Supercats (55) Rockingham and Geelong were locked in a tight game with both sides playing hard and causing multiple defensive stops. Darrnell Edwards’s hustle on defence led to the Supercats pulling away early but Joshua Draper and Jackson Klepzig kept the Flames close. Some clutch Billy Dawson free throws were matched by Klepzig’s own, leaving Geelong with a narrow one-point as the game headed down the stretch. Despite a huge block from Dawson, there was just enough time for Jacob Heath to nail the game-winner and send the Rockingham fans into a frenzy in an incredible finish. GAME REPORTS .

BOYS Bulleen Boomers (54) def. Willetton Tigers (27) The Tigers played hard throughout this the game and never surrendered as they maintained hard-nosed defence right until the final siren but some impressive shooting from Bulleen gave them a comfortable cushion for most of the game, paced by Marcel Haj.

BOYS Brisbane Capitals (67) def. Sutherland Sharks (39) Both teams played aggressively from the opening tip but they cancelled each other so well that the first quarter saw no movement on the scoreboard. The Capitals quickly changed that with a swift three-pointer to start the second quarter and while the Sharks’ harried offence gave them an early lead after half-time, Brisbane were able to consolidate with some lights- out shooting to finally gain a buffer and run away with the win.

GIRLS Gold Coast Waves (35) def. by Nunawading Spectres (47) The Spectres upgraded their defence after a slow start which saw them trailing at quarter-time and while their defensive pressure stepped up, Gold Coast were not going away and it was still just a one possession game in the final minutes. Nunawading’s stamina proved exceptional and they kept cool heads to win by double-digits in the end.

GIRLS Newcastle Hunters (46) def. Perry Lakes Hawks (39) The Hunters did most of the running but the Hawks made the most of their shots early to gain the lead at the end of the first quarter but once the Hunters found their range, they were right in the contest. They remained calm in the face of extended pressure down the stretch with Perry Lakes doing all they could to force a stop before Newcastle finally heard the siren sound.

GIRLS Bulleen Boomers (59) def. Willetton Tigers (34) Ella McIntyre scored crucial points for the Boomers to jump out to a lead and while the Tigers’ Ella Doyle mounted a retaliation, the Boomers used that good start to ensure they were not going to be headed as they ran out victors on Day 2.

GIRLS Cairns Dolphins (74) def. Alice Springs Suns (48) The Suns had a spell of points in the first half to prove their offence can be lethal in this tournament but Cairns’ consistent nature meant they could not be caught. Kaidence Fishook scored 32 points to pace Alice Springs but the Dolphins’ Jasmine Fearne and Felicity Crotty almost outscored the opposition by themselves.

BOYS North Adelaide Rockets (51) def. Cairns Marlins (67) In a battle of two undefeated teams, North Adelaide and Cairns put on a show for the crowd with Kane Runnalls leading the way for the Marlins. Yaak Yaak’s defence for the Rockets was exceptional and kept them in the contest but Cairns wore them down with their ability to score both inside and outside to head into the Championship Division unbeaten.

BOYS Newcastle Hunters (27) def. Darwin Cyclones (49) The game got off to a physical start as neither team budged and the defences held up against consistent offensive pressure. The Cyclones managed to keep a five-point lead for most of the first half before finally breaking the contest open after the main break courtesy of Joel De Barros and Thomas Malseed. Newcastle drew fouls consistently but could not hurt their opponents on the scoreboard.

BOYS Dandenong Rangers (81) def. North Bears (29) With Jerome Pierre and Beau Tranter scoring 37 points between them, the gap on the scoreboard soon stretched in favour of the Rangers after a tight start and while the Bears showed off some strong defensive efforts, Dandenong had too many weapons to contain.

BOYS Sturt Sabres (95) def. Alice Springs Suns (10) Despite the Suns’ best efforts and an encouraging cheer squad, they struggled to match the intensity of the Sabres who received 42 points from Noah D’Arcy, Taj Spencer and Mattaes Phillipou.

GIRLS Diamond Valley Eagles (38) def. Canberra Capitals (31) Teah Reichert’s fast-paced energy helped the Eagles maintain a lead, scoring 14 points and an advantage at three-quarter time proved the difference as the Capitals could only match them basket-for-basket down the stretch. A low-scoring affair seemed to suit Canberra but they just could not overcome Diamond Valley’s stronger start in a very tight affair.

GIRLS Joondalup Wolves (44) def. by North West Tasmania Devils (47) It was a battle between Ananya Tushir (Wolves) and Hayley Mckenna (Devils) for most of the game with both players scoring 14 points each. Joondalup owned a lead heading down the stretch but the Devils connected on a few consecutive baskets to suddenly turn the match around and while the Wolves had a chance to send it to overtime on the buzzer, they just fell short in an agonising finish. 2017 Australian U14 Club Championships DAILY DRIBBLE Game Reports U16 Championships - Boys & Girls

BOYS Canberra Gunners (49) def. by Hawthorn Magic (59) A fast start from Hawthorn was quickly eradicated by the Gunners and the Magic were only able to gain a half-time lead courtesy of some free-throws. Canberra began to get frustrated which gifted Hawthorn more shots from the charity stripe and while the Gunners threw everything at them with an impressive defensive performance, Hawthorn held firm to win by ten points.

BOYS Southern Tasmania Kangaroos (25) def. by Illawarra Hawks (53) The Kangaroos and Hawks got off to a tight start but the transition play of Joshua Dent broke the match open and the Hawks then proved too strong at the offensive end. The Kangaroos showed glimpses but could not find the bottom of the basket consistently.

BOYS Perry Lakes Hawks (41) def. by Eltham Wildcats (100) Brody Glenn took some chances with half-court passes but they paid off for the Wildcats who dominated this game from the outset while Kristian Ferronato kept the scoreboard ticking over to tally 100 points. Perry Lakes nailed some big shots themselves but their defence could not contain Eltham’s inside game.

BOYS Northern Tasmanian Tigers (40) def. by Sydney Comets (81) Ositadimma Ahamefule, Eoin Morrissey and Jayden Woods dominated the floor for Sydney, each scoring 12 points and in the face of extended pressure from the Tigers in the second half, they held steady to out-match their opponents with some impressive high-energy play.

GIRLS South West Metro Pirates (48) def. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (42) The performances of Destiny Mino and Lil Dart carried the Pirates to a close win despite the efforts of the Sea Eagles who fought back late to make the Pirates’ bench nervous. Manly looked like they might steal the contest but South West Metro proved to have level heads as they took the battle of the seas.

GIRLS Ballarat Rush (73) def. Forestville Eagles (45) Laura O’Connor’s 12 points kept the scoreboard running while Jemma Amoore’s shooting from long-range range gave Ballarat a handy lead, answering the best efforts of Charlotte Lewis and Jessica Simons who proved the Eagles have their fair share of firepower. GIRLS Dandenong Rangers (67) def. Maitland Mustangs (29) A shoulder injury to Nyadiew Puoch messed with the Rangers’ preparation but their defence held firm, keeping the Mustangs out of the paint while at the other end, Iva Stojiljkovic proved unstoppable in a strong performance in front of the home crowd.

GIRLS Sturt Sabres (54) def. Darwin Cyclones (37) The Sabres launched a swift attack right from the start to quickly mount a double-digit lead and their well executed weaving pattern of attack had them looking comfortable at half-time. Darwin found some rhythm out of the main break and sent a few scares through the Sturt camp but the lead they had grown proved too big to overcome.

BOYS Mackay Meteors (56) def. Rockingham Flames (45) Both teams relied heavily on their defence which kept the scores down but once Mackay found their stroke, it forced Rockingham into a couple of uncharacteristic shots as the scoreboard began to get away from them. The Meteors then clamped down defensively down the stretch to finally finish the Flames off in a tough contest.

BOYS Geelong Supercats (51) def. by Norwood Flames (63) Dash Kimber dominated the court with 26 points for the Flames, firing them from the opening tip and David Rinaldi and Noah English then consolidated the advantage from beyond the arc. Geelong had a few runs in them throughout the game but Norwood’s hot start meant they could not be caught.

GIRLS Eltham Wildcats (51) def. Southern Tigers (31) Southern Tigers kept with their opponents through the first half but Jessica Del Brocco and Sophie Burrow were able to break the game open out of the main break and that proved the difference with the Wildcats streaming to victory.

GIRLS Sydney Comets (52) def. Southern Tasmania Kangaroos (30) The Kangaroos were hot on the Comet’s tails until half-time when Kyla Shannon was able to get their offence going. Both teams were impressive from long range but Tara Kalivitis then connected as well for the Comets to power them to a 20+ point win. GAME REPORTS
