3RD SUNDAY of EASTER Jesus spent his earthly ministry doing the Fa- ther’s will, proclaiming the Father’s word. For that, Jesus was crucified. The Father then raised him from the dead. But his work was still not done. After the crucifixion his disciples had scat- tered, their faith was crushed. For the next forty days, until his ascension, he appeared to his dis- ciples, as we hear again in today’s gospel, so that they might know the great joy of the resurrection and their share, and ours, in it.
