INTRODUCTION: These cast iron red plaques were placed around Gibraltar between 1959 and 1975 in possibly the first attempt to present the rocks history to visitors and residents. They were the work of the Gibraltar Museum Committee which at the time was under the chairmanship of the Hon. Mrs Dorothy Ellicott O.B.E., J.P. (see appendix III). Modern information boards will perhaps replace them (see ‘Future’ section below), but I hope this will not happen. They are their own piece of Gibraltar’s history. When I first noticed and started taking photos of these red plaques I looked for a record of how many there were to find. After speaking to The Heritage Trust and Tourist Board I was told there was not an up to date, completed list. So, here is mine, consisting of 49 plaques, some in situ, some not. There could be more around the rock, or in storage, as there are details of up to 53 in a document attached, dated October 1977, (see Appendix I). From this list there are 43 that I have found and are on mine, another 10 I did not find (some I know have been removed from site with no details of where they are stored) and there are 4 that I found that are not on it.

ENACTED by the Legislature of Gibraltar. Public Health (Amendment) Act 2011 [No. 10 of 2011] Title and commencement. 1. This Act may be cited as the Public Health (Amendment) Act 2011 and comes into operation on the day appointed by the Government by notice in the Gazette and different days may be appointed for different purposes. Amendment of the Public Health Act. 2.(1) The Public Health Act is amended in accordance with this section. (2) In section 2− (a) in the definition of “public highways” for “Governor” substitute “Government”; (b) in the definition of “public sewer” delete the words “formerly the property of the City Council and now”; (c) in the definition of “reserved ways”− (i) delete the words “military” and “not being public highways or other streets held by the Governor on behalf of Her Majesty”, (ii) after the word “spaces” insert “being upon land in the possession, occupation and use of the Ministry of Defence”; (d) in the definition of “street” delete the words “, held by the Governor on behalf of Her Majesty and any reserved way which the Governor has agreed to maintain”; (e) in the definition of “United Kingdom Government premises” delete the words “or Ministry of the Environment”. Country Travel Restrictions and/or Special Conditions Afghanistan International • The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority has announced that reduced international commercial flights are gradually resuming. Emirates, Turkish, Ariana, and Kam airlines are resuming operations. • All passengers travelling with Emirates and Fly Dubai from Afghanistan must be able to present a COVID-19 negative certificate to be accepted for travel. This certificate must be issued no more than 96 hours prior to commencing your travel by a laboratory accredited to issue test certificates. • Land borders with China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are shut, although cargo and other essential traffic is exempt. • The border with Iran is open. • Pakistan has reopened its border with the country for trade. • Arriving passengers who do not show COVID-19 symptoms are advised to quarantine for 14 days.
