Paul heads to Dover Harbour, where he meets a colony of harbour seals living on a disused Navy base. Back on dry land, he’s in Broadstairs, where he meets the great- great-great granddaughter of Charles Dickens, before trying oysters in Whitstable.

Shaun Evans and Roger Allam reprise their roles as DS Endeavour Morse and DCI Fred Thursday respectively as the seventh series of the Oxford-set drama begins.

Thursday investigates a grisly murder on an Oxford towpath while Endeavour spends the evening seeing in the new year - 1970 - at a Venetian opera. Later, back in Oxford, a ground-breaking college project sparks a fatal battle of the sexes.
