The adverts feature Ada Hegerberg, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo and amateur players and will run throughout the season to promote inclusion, diversity and accessibility in European Football with the motto "Everyone has the right to enjoy football, no matter who you are, where you're from, or how you play." More information on the campaign and on the advertisements can be found in the accompanying media release and on the campaign website: www.equalgame.com. Rijeka are up against Greek opposition for a third successive European game, and will hope for a better result in their UEFA Europa League Group D opener against AEK Athens. Previous meetings • The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition. • Rijeka enter the group stage after losing to another Greek club, Olympiacos, in the UEFA Champions League play- offs. They went down 2-1 in Piraeus and 1-0 at home in their first fixtures against Greek opponents. • AEK have won five of their six previous matches against Croatian teams, the only disappointment in that run a 3-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb (then representing Yugoslavia) in a 1964 European Cup Winners' Cup preliminary round game. Form guide • Since beating TNS home and away in July, Rijeka are without a win in four European matches (D2 L2) this season and have not scored in their last two UEFA home fixtures, against Salzburg and Olympiacos; however, they are yet to lose a group stage home game (W2 D4). • AEK have not scored in their last three European away fixtures (D2 L1), including a defeat at CSKA Moskva in this season's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. Indeed, prior to their 3-0 home victory over Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League play-offs, they had not scored – home or away – in five European matches. • Croatian title winners for the first time last season, Rijeka are embarking on their third UEFA Europa League group stage campaign but have yet to reach the knockout phase. • Winners of Greece's end-of-season UEFA Champions League play-offs, AEK have had five previous UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns, most recently in 2011/12. They have only once reached the round of 32, in 2007/08. Links and trivia • The journey from Athens to Rijeka is around 1,100km. • Rijeka boast Greek talent in the form of former Panathinaikos winger Charis Mavrias; he and AEK's Lazaros Christodoulopoulos were Greens team-mates from 2010–13. • AEK have a Croatian player, former Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split trainee Marko Livaja; on loan from Las Palmas, he has never played senior football in his native country. • Livaja and Rijeka's Florentin Matei were on the books at Italian side Cesena in 2011/12. • AEK's Dmytro Chygrynskiy won the UEFA Cup as a Shakhtar Donetsk player in 2009. The coaches • Rijeka's longest-serving coach, Slovenian Matjaž Kek was hired in 2013 and steered the team to their first league championship and fourth Croatian Cup in 2016/17. A defender and coach at Maribor, where his father and son also played, he was Slovenia boss from 2007–11. • Manolo Jiménez returned for a second spell as AEK coach in January 2017, having led the club to 2010/11 Greek Cup glory during his first stint. The former Sevilla left-back has also coached Sevilla, Real Zaragoza and al-Rayyan. 3 HNK Rijeka - AEK Athens FC Thursday 14 September 2017 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion HNK Rijeka, Rijeka Team facts HNK Rijeka Formed: 1946 Nickname: Riječki bijeli (Rijeka Whites) UEFA club competition honours • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) Domestic title: 1 (2017) National cup: 6 (2017) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2016/17: third qualifying round 2015/16: second qualifying round 2014/15: group stage 2013/14: group stage 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition 2009/10: third qualifying round 2008/09: UEFA Intertoto Cup first round 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 5-0: Rijeka v Prestatyn Town 18/07/13, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-5: The New Saints v Rijeka 18/07/17, UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg 1-5: Vikingur v Rijeka 31/07/14, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Rijeka v Aberdeen 16/07/15, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg 0-3: Rijeka v Partizan 04/08/99, UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: Vitória Guimarães v Rijeka 19/09/13, UEFA Europa League group stage UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 5-0: Rijeka v Prestatyn Town (see above) • Biggest away win 1-5: Vikingur v Rijeka (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Rijeka v Aberdeen (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: Vitória Guimarães v Rijeka (see above) AEK Athens Formed: 1924 Nickname: Kitrinomavri (Yellow and Blacks) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) 4 HNK Rijeka - AEK Athens FC Thursday 14 September 2017 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion HNK Rijeka, Rijeka League title: 11 (1994) Greek Cup: 15 (2016) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2016/17: third qualifying round 2015/16: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2014/15: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2013/14: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2012/13: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2011/12: group stage 2010/11: group stage 2009/10: group stage 2008/09: second qualifying round 2007/08: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0: AEK v Grevenmacher 09/08/01, UEFA Cup qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-4: Maccabi Haifa v AEK 12/12/02, UEFA Cup third round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4: AEK v Sevilla 03/09/07, UEFA Champions League third qualifying round second leg 0-3 on two occasions, most recently v Zenit 16/12/10, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 7-2: Monaco v AEK 18/09/63, European Champion Clubs' Cup preliminary round first leg 5-0 on three occasions, most recently v Barcelona 22/02/01, UEFA Cup fourth round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-0: AEK v Grevenmacher (see above) • Biggest away win 1-4: Maccabi Haifa v AEK (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: AEK v Zenit (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-0 on three occasions, most recently v Barcelona (see above) 5 HNK Rijeka - AEK Athens FC Thursday 14 September 2017 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion HNK Rijeka, Rijeka Squad list HNK Rijeka Current season All-time UCL UEL League UEL UEFA No.

It was AEK's joint biggest away win in UEFA competition and Zorya's heaviest European home defeat. Previous meetings • Zorya had never faced a Greek club in Europe until Matchday 3, while AEK's one and only previous pairing with Ukrainian opposition came in the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League round of 32, where they drew twice with Dynamo Kyiv (1-1 h, 0-0 a) but were eliminated on the away goals rule. Form guide AEK • Third in last season's Greek Superleague, 22 points adrift of champions Olympiacos, AEK's 2019/20 European campaign ended in the UEFA Europa League play-offs, where they lost on away goals to Trabzonspor (1-3 h, 2-0 a).
