CROSS-REGISTRATION PROGRAM IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

The Consortium's Cross-Registration arrangement permits students enrolled in eligible degree programs at one Consortium member institution to register for a course offered at another member institution. Study abroad is excluded from Cross-Registration. Unless specifically excluded by a university, on-line classes are included in Cross-Registration.

Each member institution has listed in the calendar the critical dates that cross-registering students should observe when taking courses at that institution. Students are responsible for arranging their schedules to accommodate the calendar requirements of both the home and the visited institution. For information regarding Summer Sessions, please contact your Consortium Coordinator.

How to cross-register Students planning to cross-register should contact the Consortium Coordinator located in the Office of the Registrar at their home institution to obtain a Consortium Registration Form and to discuss their rights and responsibilities as a visiting student. Before processing Cross- Registration, students are responsible for obtaining the requisite campus approvals for the course they wish to take. At the conclusion of the Cross-Registration process, students receive a stamped, initialed copy of the Consortium Registration Form, which they retain as proof of registration and for identification on the campus of the visited institution.

Cross-Registration regulations The academic regulations and calendar of a student's home institution determine how and when the student may process Cross- Registration for another Consortium institution. Students who cross-register continue to be bound by the academic regulations of the home institution for making changes to registration. Students are advised to consult their own institution's catalog and schedule of classes for pertinent dates and regulations.

Course availability verification Enrollment restrictions may apply for certain courses offered by an institution a student plans to visit. Students requesting cross-registration are advised to take note of enrollment restrictions and permission requirements and to verify with appropriate officials or faculty of the visited institution that a course they plan to take is available to them.

Tuition and fees Students pay tuition for courses taken under the Consortium arrangement through the regular procedure of the student's home institution, based on the rate applicable there. In addition to tuition, visiting students pay the applicable course fees listed in the visited institution's schedule of classes. Such fees are collected by the visited institution.

Consortium grading practices Coursework taken through the Consortium is treated as residence credit. Faculty of the visited institution will apply academic standards and grading practices of that institution when evaluating and reporting grades for visiting students. However, grades may be converted, as appropriate, to conform with the home institution's grading system before being recorded on the student's official transcript, which is maintained and issued solely by the home institution.

Incompletes Students who arrange grades of "incomplete" at a visited institution should note that the time limits for making up the incompletes are not to exceed those of the home institution, although a faculty member may require an earlier deadline.

Graduating students Students who plan to cross-register during their final semester of study, and for whom graduation eligibility requires that all final grades are reported prior to graduation, should note the semester end dates for visited institutions. At the start of the semester, the student should seek an agreement with the visited school’s course instructor to calculate and submit an early grade report to the visited school’s Registrar.
