Welcome to this gathering place, Friend and stranger, broken and whole, all are welcome. Welcome to this timeless place, We join with Angels and Archangels and all the saints, to worship God. We gather in the name of God, Who ordered the heavens and earth. We gather in the name of Jesus Christ Who has taken the heart of God into our humanity. We gather in the name of the Spirit, who makes all things new. Amen. Song of Praise: St. Patrick’s Breastplate 5 4. 6 Collect of the Day Let us pray. Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. 7 First Reading Jeremiah 2:4-13 Let us prepare ourselves for the Word of God as it comes to us in the reading of Holy Scripture. Our hearts and minds are open. After the reading there is a period of silence, at the end of which the reader says This is the Word of God. Thanks be to God. The Psalm: 81:1, 10-16 1 Sing with joy to God our strength * and raise a loud shout to the God of Jacob. 10 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and said, * "Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it." 11 And yet my people did not hear my voice, * and Israel would not obey me. 12 So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their hearts, * to follow their own devices. 13 Oh, that my people would listen to me! * that Israel would walk in my ways! 14 I should soon subdue their enemies * and turn my hand against their foes. 15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him, * and their punishment would last for ever. 16 But Israel would I feed with the finest wheat * and satisfy him with honey from the rock. Second Reading Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-1 After the reading there is a period of silence, at the end of which the reader says This is the Word of God. Thanks be to God. The Gospel We stand Hear the Gospel of our Savior Christ, according to Luke (14:1, 7-14). Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Conclusion This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 8 Homily Creed We stand Our God is the God of all humans, the God of heaven and earth, the God of sea and rivers, the God of the sun and moon, the God of all the heavenly bodies, the God of the lofty mountains, the God of the lowly valleys. God is above the heavens; and he is beneath the heavens. Heaven and earth and sea, and everything that is in them, such he has as his abode. He inspires all things, he gives life to all things, he stands above all things, and he stands beneath all things. He enlightens the light of the sun, he strengthens the light of the night and the stars, he makes wells in the arid land and dry islands in the sea, and he places the stars in the service of the greater lights. He has a Son who is co-eternal with himself; and similar in all respects to himself; and neither is the Son younger than the Father, nor is the Father older than the Son; and the Holy Spirit breathes in them. And the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit are inseparable. Amen. 9 The Prayers The intercessor calls us to prayer with this bidding Blessed God, whose love calls the whole creation into covenant with you, and who puts in our hands responsibility for the care of the earth and its creatures: we pray for all to whom you have given life and being, saying God of love and mercy, Hear our prayer. We stand, kneel or sit. Concluding prayer God of light, illumine the hearts of our souls. Christ of flame, kindle us to love. Spirit of fire, renew us, guide us, and free us to live this day and forever. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. 10 The Holy Communion The Peace The Peace of the Lord be with you always; and also with you. Announcements Offertory Let us gather our gifts together and offer them to God in gratitude and praise. Music “Be Thou My Vision,” The O’Neill Brothers. Songs on Dulcimer. Eucharistic Prayer We are the body of Christ. His Spirit is with us. Let us lift up our hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. We give thanks for your son, Jesus Christ, through whom your love and healing mercy reached beyond the bounds of our prejudice, and who is now sowing in us the seeds of faith, that we might bring forth a rich harvest of good works. Therefore with the whole realm of nature around us, With earth, sea and sky, We sing to you. With the angels and archangels who envelop us, With all the saints before us and beside us, With brothers and sisters, east and west, north and south, We sing to you. And with our loved ones, separate from us now, who yet, in this mystery are close to us, We sing the hymn of unending praise: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
