Thaiwoo Ski Resort舞 WINTER太 SKI CAMP Thaiwoo Ski Resort舞 December 19 - 23, 2020 INFO PACK | WINTER SKI CAMP 2 Chongli District is located just outside Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Destination province, roughly 250 KM northwest of Beijing. This region has throughout history been known as “Beijing’s Northern Door”, Thaiwoo Ski strategically important throughout the centuries for its positioning as the largest major city to the north of the capital. Chongli will Resort stage most of the ski events for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Thaiwoo Ski Resort will serve as our main base where we will stay for this program. It is on Thaiwoo’s well-groomed slopes that participants will spend 3 full days learning太 to ski in small groups, with dedicated English-language instructors (Chinese also available). Starting from the “bunny slope”, students will advance through foundational ski knowledge, including safety skills. By the end of the three days, learners will come away with a solid foundation in skiing, with enough confidence to tackle any beginner, and possibly intermediate, slopes. Throughout the program, our dedicated Hutong guides will handle everything from start to finish - from pick-up and drop-off in Beijing, to arranging delicious meals, to ice breaker games, to a snowball showdown! Participants will also enjoy 舞fun, bonding evening activities, including a DIY pizza party, a movie night, holiday trivia night, and more. Just pack your bag for the week, and The Hutong will handle the rest! Small Group Participants will be teamed up in small groups of 5 for the week, with a dedicated ski instructor who will walk them through the very basics on the “bunny slope” through to confidence on beginner hills. Thaiwoo has a number of English-speaking ski instructors (with an option for Ski Instruction Chinese instructors, as well) who are passionate and ready to share their love of the sport with students. Each participant will be fitted with a full set of equipment they’ll use each day. Intruction groups will be formed based on levels (eg. total beginner vs. beginner with basic experience). Ski instruction will run over three days, with each day consisting of roughly 5 hours of skiing, with a stop at midday for lunch in the canteen. Highlight 7 Other Activities After a day out on the slopes, there’s nothing better than kicking your feet up and relaxing with some fun, evening entertainment. From a movie night (with snacks and drinks!), to a festive, friendly trivia competition, to a DIY ski film-making night, we’ll cap off each day with fun activities. The final morning of our program, we’ll have the option to soak, swim, and play in a heated, indoor swimming pool (and adjacent hot tub!) or join in a rousing snowball fight and snowfort-making competition! Celebratory Pizza Party With spectacular views from all directions, students will feel on top of the world as they float above the grassy plains of Thaiwoo resort in a luxurious 10 person cable car. Upon arrival at the mountain lodge restaurant participants will make their own pizzas, all while taking in the breathtaking mountain vistas. We’ll round off our pizza party with awards for the week, along with a viewing of participant’s ski films that they’ll have created using footage from the past few days. INFO PACK | WINTER SKI CAMP 8 太 Our Accommodation Located centrally in the luxurious international ski-town of Thaiwoo, the Eagle’s Nest Youth Hostel Eagle’s Nest will be our home for the duration of this program. With our own neat, clean, private dorm rooms (separated for boys and girls) participants will be safe and comfortable in this well-appointed and Hostel brand new accomodation. 舞 Each room is appointed with its own shower and Western-style bathroom, and each camper will have their own personal lockable cupboards. All of our activities will only be a short walk away, and there’s plenty of space for fun and games! Based on 27 in- depth interviews with owners and managers, we conclude that lifestyle entrepreneurs strive to meet the demands of contemporary backpackers by providing a specific ambience and outpacing more profit-oriented competitors. In addition, business owners work to sustain an explicitly hedonistic way of life to perpetuate their status as “senior” backpackers who offer customized, hard-to-imitate services. As tourism is predicted to continue growing in the next decade, there is an urgent need for the tourism sector to embrace sustainability principles in order that tourists may continue travelling, while placing minimal impacts on the natural environment. Although there is much debate over the concepts of sustainability and how it is to be measured, the Ecological Footprint has recently been proposed as a key indicator of sustainable tourism, due to its abilities to quantify the amount of land needed for tourism activities, and enable comparisons between tourism components through its global, standardized measurements. In this study, the ecological footprint was adapted to a tourism context, in order to measure the sustainability of backpacker tourism. As backpackers, or hostel tourists, tend to travel on low budgets and use fewer resources than the average tourist, it has been speculated that backpacker tourism is more environmentally friendly than some other forms of travel.

It argues that a careful attention to the power relations, context, meanings and effects of the behaviours of male and female tourists who engage in sexual relations with local people, makes it clear that the differences are profound. The similarities and differences are analysed here with the conclusion that it is the different positions of men and women in the sex class hierarchy that create such differences. The political ideas that influence the major protagonists in this debate to include or exclude women will be examined. The article ends with a consideration of the problematic implications of arguing that women do it too.

    Rental Guidelines The guest, including all members of the guest’s party understands and agrees: Upon confirming a reservation, a contractual agreement is made between Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island, Inc. and the guest, including all members of the guest’s party. The guest and the rest of their party agree to abide by the following Rental Guidelines: Maximum Occupancy: At all times, both inside and outside the home, the maximum occupancy is the number of persons allowed on the premises, including infants. We cater to family groups and cannot accept reservations for vacationing students or house parties. We do not rent to students even if one or more parents or legally responsible adults accompany them, or to groups under the age of 25. This policy is strictly enforced. Special events such as weddings, reunions, and church retreats are only allowed in select homes and require a separate contract. Special pricing and security deposits may be required. Please contact our office for details. Pets: Guests may bring up to 2 pets to our pet-friendly homes unless otherwise noted in an individual property description. Guests must obtain special permission, and a fee of $100 will be charged, for each pet that exceeds the amount allowed as outlined above or as specified in an individual property description. Guests are required to clean up after their pets, and there may be additional charges if pet waste is left on the property. Franklin County law prohibits leaving pet waste on the beach or dunes. Pets in non-pet-friendly homes are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate eviction with no refund of rent.

Kenzer, Thesis Director This thesis descnbes the first fifty years of the creation of Virginia Beach as a seaside resort. It demonstrates the importance of railroads in promoting the resort and suggests that Virginia Beach followed a similar developmental pattern to that of other ocean resorts, particularly those ofthe famous New Jersey shore. Virginia Beach, plagued by infrastructure deficiencies and overshadowed by nearby Ocean View, did not stabilize until its promoters shifted their attention from wealthy northerners to Tidewater area residents. After experiencing difficulties exacerbated by the Panic of 1893, the burning of its premier hotel in 1907, and the hesitation bred by the Spanish American War and World War I, Virginia Beach enjoyed robust growth during the 1920s. While Virginia Beach is often perceived as a post- World War II community, this thesis argues that its prewar foundation was critical to its subsequent rise to become the largest city in Virginia.
