Out-Canned By Pandas But Families Have Hearty Holidays

Jack Schrage The Canned Food Drive vs NDA was, to say the least, a success. The Colo- nels and the Pandas competed to see who could come “out-can” the other. The friendly wager between the two schools was the loser had to serve/bus tables one day of the winner’s choice. In order to prevent losing, seniors Noah Galvin, Jack Schrage, and Patrick Hennies went to Krogers and bought over 600 cans of vegetables and other dif- ferent items. They believed that those cans would ensure the victory for the Colo- nels. Unfortunately, the Colonels were out-canned by the Pandas. The Colonels raised about 6,000 cans, which is the highest number of cans of all time, while the Pandas raised over 15,000. They got us this year, but it is all for a good cause. Overall, the Pandas and the Colonels teamed up to make sure that people who had not planned to eat for Noah Galvin cannot keep up with all these cans. Chamber Choir Brings Home the Money and Accolades for CCH

Staff Photo by J. Abdrabbo On December 12th, radio station Q102 awarded our own Chamber Choir 1st Place in their annual Christ- mas Choir Competition for the third year in a row. Radio hosts Jeff and Jenn came to the school to present the $5000 check to the Chamber Choir, along with Director Jim Wolfe. “With only four members returning from last year, I wasn’t sure of what the outcome would be. I had 14 new members join the choir, and I couldn’t be prouder of this group as a whole. They worked so hard to produce such a high quality piece,” said Mr. Wolfe. The choir entered with the song Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Judges selected the choir as one of the nine semifinalists, and then it was up to the CCH family to vote, vote, vote. And vote they did, pushing the choir into the finals. These three Jeff and Jenn from Q102 present the check to the Chamber Choir and Mr. choirs were then judged by the radio station’s own judges. Basketball Video Game is a Must Have

Daniel Lee NBA 2K15 is a basketball video game published by 2K Sports and designed by Visual Concepts. Released on October 7,2014, this is the second game in the 2K series for the next generation consoles. With reigning MVP Kevin Durant on the cover and the bright red background, the presentation of the game is attention grabbing. Specifically made for Xbox One and Playstation 4, the features of the NBA players are life-like. Using 3-D mapping for players, developers were able to use a 3D model of the players face and add an insane amount of detail to the game. Developers also invited the NBA players to a recording studio to record their voices for in-game interaction between your “My Player” and other notable NBA players. This game was meant for next generation consoles such as the Xbox one and the Playstation 4. Having the game on current generation consoles is still great graphics, but you will not get all the feautures and details as you would on next generation consoles.

Every year Mrs. Ruth has her Honors Eng- lish class enter the Voice of Democracy Speech Contest. “It is a great experience to enter a writing competition and win it. I just want the boys to experience success with their writing, and I strongly believe these competitions bring that success,” said Mrs. Ruth. After writing the essay, students submitted them to Mrs. Ruth. She then select- ed the top five essays, and those writers then recorded the speech on CDs to enter with the local VFW Post. The speech prompt was “What is the importance of our veterans in the past, present, and future?” Noah’s conclusion to his essay stated, “We should continue to pay tribute to our veterans. Because of our veterans, people are inspired to serve, our media pays more attention to those who serve and have served, and we earn more respect for our nation. Not showing appreciation for our veterans causes our past to fade away and our future opportunities to vanish.” Noah’s work was good enough for 1st place and a check. His essay then con- tinued to the next level, which was district. Not long after that, he received word that he won at the district level as well and received more money. Now, his speech will continue onto the state level. We wish him good luck in this endeavor. Noah accepts his award from the Ladies Auxiliary Presi- dent and the head of the VFW Post 6423.
