Deputy Wall has met with the Minister on a number of occasions to express his concern on the many representations that his office has being getting from Unfinished estates throughout South Kildare. I want to welcome the formation of this committee, Deputy Wall added “There are far too many unfinished estates in South Kildare, where the quality of life of those living there is affected on a daily basis by the lack of infrastructure within the estate. I believe that the bonds and Insurance certificates held on many of these estates must be used to finish them off to the standard that was promised those who purchased houses in them. The Minister has promised that this committee will be back with recommendations to her in the quickest possible time and I look forward to their findings. APPLY NOW FOR BACK TO SCHOOL CLOTHING ALLOWANCE Labour T.D. for Kildare South has welcomed news by Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton T.D., that details of this year's Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance have now been announced. “The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will once again help families with the costs involved in going back to school, and thankfully this year’s allowance will be maintained to a similar rate in 2012. “Again this year, a large proportion of the allowance entitlements will be fully automated with no application form required. Letters will be issued to the people concerned over the next week, informing them of their entitlement and notifying them that payment will be issued in the week commencing 15th July with their normal social welfare weekly payment. “To qualify for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, the person must be in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment and they must satisfy a means test. The rates of payment are €100 for children between the age of 4 and 11 years of age and €200 for children between 12 and 22 years of age. “I would urge anyone who thinks they are eligible for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance to contact the Department if they do not receive a letter in the next week. My office will also be happy to help with any enquiries. “This is a very useful payment for lessening the impact of the cost of sending children back to school in many households. I would urge new applicants, and those who do not receive a letter to apply as soon as possible.” PQ Parliamentary Question Have you got a question for this Government or one of its Departments?
