We are pleased and honored to welcome at the Paléospace Museum of Villers-sur-Mer the “6th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans”. Villers-sur-Mer is a place universally known by specialists and amateurs of palaeontology due to its famous Vaches Noires cliffs. Villers-sur-Mer has also the distinction of being the only French seaside resort located on the Greenwich Meridian line. The Paléospace is a Museum funded in 2011 with the label Musée de France. Three main animations linked to the Time are presented: palaeontology, astronomy and nature with the neighbouring marsh. The museum is in a constant evolution. For instance, an exhibition specially dedicated to dinosaurs was opened two years ago and a planetarium will open next summer. Every year a very high quality temporary exhibition takes place during the summer period with very numerous animations during all the year. The Paléospace does not stop progressing in term of visitors (56 868 in 2015) and its notoriety is universally recognized both by the other museums as by the scientific community. We are very proud of these unexpected results. We thank the dynamism and the professionalism of the Paléospace team which is at the origin of this very great success. We wish you a very good stay at Villers-sur-Mer, a beautiful visit of the Paléospace and especially an excellent congress. Paramithrax barbicornis (Latreille, 1825) ^^ also redescrijjcd and figured and is considered synonymous with Gonatorhynchiis iumidus Has\vell, 1880, following Balss (i92()). This species ^vas designated as the type of the genus Paramillirax H. Milne TMwards, 1834, by Desmarest (1858) and the genus Gonatorhynchus Haswell, 1880, is consequently reduced to synonymy with Paramithrax. INTRODUCTION In the first volume of H. Milne Edward's (1834) major work on the Crustacea a new species of oxyrhynch crab, Paramithrax gai^nardii, supposedly collected in New Zealand waters by Quoy and Gaimard, was described, and placed in Section B of Milne Edward's new genus Paramithrax. Unfortunately, the description was hardly adequate enough to permit later identification of the species. -

Over 10,500 names are treated including 6,793 valid species and subspecies (with 1,907 primary synonyms), 1,271 genera and subgenera (with 393 primary synonyms), 93 families and 38 superfamilies. Nomenclatural and taxonomic problems are reviewed in detail, and many resolved. Detailed notes and references are provided where necessary. The constitution of a large number of families and superfamilies is discussed in detail, with the positions of some taxa rearranged in an attempt to form a stable base for future taxonomic studies. This is the first time the nomenclature of any large group of decapod crustaceans has been examined in such detail. We are especially concerned about Revital’s range of compost and vermicast products made in Taranaki where petroleum drilling and production wastes have been incorporated into the manufacturing processes. We question the robustness of the product testing and traceability regimes and believe there is potential of harm to the public. The ‘failure’ of Last Samurai tourism at shooting locations in Taranaki has often been contrasted with the success of tourism in New Zealand relating to Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Based on fieldwork at Hobbiton in August 2017, this research note identifies the main reasons why Hobbiton became a popular tourist attraction with up to 3000 visitors per day in 2016-2017, while by the same time Last Samurai tourism had effectively ceased to exist. The reasons for Hobbiton’s ‘success’, by contrast, are identified as a reason why Last Samurai sites might remain attractive for film tourists, while Hobbiton has lost much of its appeal for film tourism purists. アブストラクト:本研究ノートは、2003年公開の映画『ラストサムライ』に関連する場 所でのフィールドワーク記録を、3編の連続する研究ノートとしてまとめたうちの「その 2」である。『ラストサムライ』のロケ地であるタラナキにおける『ラストサムライ』ツー リズムの「失敗」事例は、しばしば、同じくニュージーランドの事例である『ロード・ オブ・ザ・リング』と『ホビット』に関連するツーリズムの「成功」と比較される。本 研究ノートでは、2017年8月に実施したホビトンでの現地調査に基づき、『ラストサム ライ』関連のツーリズムが明らかに下火になってしまった一方で、ホビトンが、2016年 から2017年現在も、1日当たり最大3千人訪問する人気のツーリストアトラクションにな り得ているのは何故なのか、その主たる理由について検討を行う。その一方で、ホビト ンの「成功」理由は、フィルムツーリズム上の魅力の多くを失ったことが逆に作用した 点にあり、この点において、『ラストサムライ』ロケ地は依然としてフィルムツーリスト に対して魅力を維持し続けている可能性があることについても論じる。 Keywords: film tourism, contents tourism, The Last Samurai, Lord of the Rings, Hobbiton. -

For over 140 years, convergent evolution of the crab-like body plan (with a wide and flattened shape, and a bent abdomen) at least five times in decapod crustaceans has been known as ‘carcinization’. The repeated loss of this body plan has been identified as ‘decarcinization’. We offer phylogenetic strategies to include poorly known groups, and direct evidence from fossils, that will resolve the pattern of crab evolution and the degree of phenotypic variation within crabs. Proposed ecological advantages of the crab body are summarized into a hypothesis of phenotypic integration suggesting correlated evolution of the carapace shape and abdomen. Our premise provides fertile ground for future studies of the genomic and developmental basis, and the predictability, of the crab-like body form. Both new species here described have been collected from small, ball-shaped nodules; they are relatively well preserved and add important new data on the palaeobiogeographic distribution of fossil upogebiids. Key words: Crustacea, Decapoda, Upogebiidae, Eocene, Oligocene, Belgium, USA, new species Introduction Jurassic species of Upogebia have been recorded, in stratigraphic order: On modern tidal flats, burrowing upogebiid shrimps constitute the dominant decapod crustacean group. For instance, in the 1 – Upogebia rhacheochir Stenzel, 1945 (p. 432, text-fig. 12; pl. intertidal zone of the northern Adriatic (Mediterranean, southern 42); Britton Formation (Eagle Ford Group), northwest of Dallas Europe) up to 200 individuals per square metre have been recorded (Texas, USA). Stenzel (1945, p. 408) dated the Britton (Dworschak, 1987). Worldwide, several dozens of species of Formation as early Turonian, but a late Cenomanian age is Upogebia and related genera are known, and their number is still more likely (compare Jacobs et al., 2005). -
