Tulane's Green Wave and Louisiana State's Tigers 1948 HOME SCHEDUL.E climax their respective grid seasons here today with their traditional clash. It is the 46th meeting between Oct. 9 -8:00 p.m.-Texas A. & M. the two arch-rivals in a 55-year old series which dates Oct. 16-8:00 p.m.-Georgia back to 1893. Oct. 30-8:00 p.m.-Ole Miss (Homecoming) Nov. 13-8:00 p.m.-Mississippi State Dr. Charles E. Coates* *took * the first · Tiger team ever assembled to New Orleans on November 25, 1893, Nov. 20-2:00 p.m.-Alabama for the series' first game which Tulane won, 34-0. Nov. 27-2:00 p.m.-Tulane * * * Requests for tickets should be addressed to "The Down through the autumns since that time, the Manager, . Football Ticket Office, Louisiana State Tigers have posted 23 game.s in the win column of University, Baton Rouge, La." the ledger as against 17 for the Greenies. * * * Last fall's 6-6 deadlock was only the fourth tie Turn to page 24 for official signals and penalties. recorded in the long and colorful series. * * * More than 66,000 spectators, the largest crowd ever to witness a regularly scheduled game in the deep South, saw the underdog Greenies upset the dope and hold the Tigers to a draw last year. * * * !Johnny f/{i/1 S Today's crowd is expected to be the largest ever to see an L.S.U.-Tulane game in the Capital City.

In their last seven meetings* * *, Tulane has scored but one win, this coming during the wartime grid season of 1943 when ex-Tiger, Dub Jones, on Navy lend-lease Before and After the Game to the Wave, led the Greenies to a 27-0 triumph.

The Wave is coached* by * Henry* Frnka, who was given the task in 1946 of returning the long-dormant Greenies to the heights they once knew. * * * * * * In his third autumn at Tulane, Frnka seems to have done the job, for today the Wave stands on the brink of receiving their first bowl invite in almost a decade. * * * Tulane has lost only to Georgia Tech in nine starts 2515 GOVERNMENT ST. while winning from Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, V. M. I., Baylor and BATON ROUGE, LA. Cincinnati. * * * * * But past records mean little when these two tra- ditional rivals clash and Tiger backers are hoping that the Tinsleymen will pull an upset. Coke and good sport just simply go together. That's why, in stadiums across the land, the pause that re freshes with ice-cold Coca-Cola is part of the game ... the friendly, sociable part ... the part you play. Enjoy it.
