In order to ensure that the quality requirements were met, the corresponding work group established an evaluation and testing process which assessed the hardware as well as manufacturer services. Once Projekt Neptun had been successfully established within ETH Zurich, the program was made available to all members of Swiss institutions of higher education in a step-by-step progression. In 2011 Projekt Neptun became independent of ETH Zurich and in May 2016, it was integrated into the non-profit foundation Stiftung Student- en-Discount (SSD). Quality & Manufacturer Evaluation It is our belief that both the students’ budget and the environment benefit from the objective of equipping students with a laptop that will last throughout their studies. The selected manufacturers offer high quality devices for all types of studies, be they art or mechanical engineering. The original evaluation process underwent repeated refine- ments and the range of offers is continuously adapted to ensure that the requirements of students of all types of study backgrounds are met. Neptun Waves The hardware recommended by Projekt Neptun can be acquired twice a year during two sales waves taking place at the beginning of each semester. By limiting the purchase periods, it is possible to offer the hardware at extremely competitive discounts and in unlimited stock. Demo Days The Demo Days, the Projekt Neptun road show at institutions of higher education throughout Switzerland, offer the possibility of seeing and testing the hardware live. Our team is on site to answer questions and give recommendations to anyone who requires assistance in selecting a new device.
