Carol attended school in Harlingen and Kirbyville. She married Wayne Pullen on August 18, 1956, and they have been married for sixty- three years. Carol worked in banking and mortgage banking as she followed her husband around Texas and Louisiana while he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and the Texas Department of Public Safety. In May she moved with her mother to Beaumont and in July, her mother decided to move to Houston with Carol and a brother and sister. Wayne was determined not to let her leave. He was working in a shipyard in Port Arthur at the time and made a proposal to her mother. He promised her that if she would allow Carol to stay behind, he would by two plates, two forks, two spoons, and two knives and they would get married. Since she was only fifteen years old, he took her and her mother to the courthouse in Beaumont for her mother to sign her consent. Wayne and Carol were married on August 18, 1956, in a church in Stowell. Wayne often told people that they changed each other’s diapers the first six months they were married. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.” Psalm 103:13-18 8 9 10 Pallbearers Jason Pullen Justin Pullen Josh Pullen Jake Pullen Jake Droddy Chuck Havard Interment R.S.
