Press Release 21st September 2010 “2010 CMB Chin Chin Star Festival” TVB The Voice Graduates claimed the third prize home in Korea

Ever since the premiere of the first episode, TVB’s red-hot singing contest The Voice has stunned so many audiences’ ears with its candidates’ awesome performance. While the finalists and finale of The Voice 2 has become the hottest talk of the town in past weeks, the graduates in series 1 are striving to polish themselves on the road to become a real superstar. Two popular The Voice candidates and Stephanie Ho flew to Dae-jeon in Korea on Sept 11 to participate in the well-known Korean singing competition “2010 CMB Chin Chin Star Festival” and successfully won back home the third prize silver award among hundreds of music talents.

The 9th Chin Chin Star Festival, hosted by Central Multi Broadcasting (CMB), attracts over 10,000 local and overseas contestants aged from 14 to 22 each year. representative Alfred Hui and Stephanie Ho were chosen by TVB this year to compete against other Korean participants. They also attended the Chin Chin Star pre-show camp to receive intensive singing and dancing training designed by Korean professional instructors. On the critical day of the show, gifted and well-prepared, Alfred and Stephanie showcased all their great effort and music potentials in the opening group dances and self-selected song session before thousands of Korean audience. Their soothing vocals and fabulous duo performance highly impressed the judges and finally crowned them the third prize winner as the only Hong Kong contestants among their Korean fellows.

In fact, TVB and CMB have been constant partners since the launch of their collaborated television channel TVB Korea(TVBK) on June 1, 2008. Top quality TVB dramas are currently on and its coverage has now successfully expanded to many major Korean cities, with the total penetration of over 10 million homes. CMB would like to further promote TVBK channel to various cable operators in the exhibition for the sake of increasing the exposure of TVBK channel and exploring more airtime sales opportunities. Since the launch of TVBK channel, TVB series have been well received in South Korea. At the “Cable TV Content Award Presentation 2009” on Jun 4, TVB was firstly awarded the “Special Awards to Overseas Content” from KCTA in recognition of its outstanding production of TV series The Last Breakthrough. In appreciation of the continuous support of Korean audiences, TVB will definitely produce more high-quality TV programmes and enhance the development of TVBK channel.
