CEDIA represents seven member companies who work in the residential electronic systems industry in Hawaii. All of these companies are electronic systems contractors (ESCs), many of which are independent retailers and installers representing a vital part of small business in Hawaii. CEDIA participated on the Department of Health's Hawaii Electric Device Recycling Task Force and was glad to serve as a resource throughout the task force's work. Electronic waste is an important issue for CEDIA’s Hawaii-based members.

News Release - Hawaii House of Representatives September 10, 2012 - For immediate release Contact: Georgette Deemer – 341-5043 or 586-6133 House Members Oppose Tax Review Commission's Consultant's Tax Increase Recommendations Honolulu, Hawaii. A group of members of the House of Representatives are opposing a consultant's tax increase recommendations to the 2010-2012 Tax Review Commission, scheduled to be heard in a public hearing tomorrow. The hearing will cover a draft report entitled "Study of the Hawaii Tax System: Final Report." The report was prepared for the Tax Review Commission by The PFM Group. Specifically, the House members oppose the following tax increase recommendations: The increase in the general excise tax rate by 0.5 percent The imposition of the income tax on pension income The increase of the corporate income tax rate The elimination of the income tax deduction for real property taxes paid The members reserved their right to oppose other recommendations in the draft report. The testimony further states: "We feel that such a significant net tax increase probably will be detrimental to private businesses, residents, or both, and that PFM has not sufficiently analyzed the impact of the tax increase on the economy, businesses, and residents." PLEASE JOIN US FOR HAWAII ALLIANCE FOR RETIRED AMERICANS (HARA) AND KOKUA COUNCIL, JOINTLY SPONSOR 2018 LEGISLATIVE REVIEW The Hawaii Alliance for Retired Americans (HARA) and Kokua Council will jointly sponsor their 12th Annual Legislative Review, affectionately known as “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Hawaii State Capitol, Conference Room 325, from 8:30 to noon. The Legislative Review is a forum to hear legislators discuss about how issues important to seniors fared inthe 2018 Legislative Session, and to allow individuals and senior organizations to share their views of the session and those issues that should be considered during the 2019 Legislative Session and beyond. Members of the community and more than 30 senior and community organizations have been invited to participate in the Legislative Review to offer their questions, comments, and insights on the 2018 Legislative Session. A lively discussion is anticipated.
