Despite fierce lobbying by Reagan and other White House officials, and members of the Senate supportive of the admin istration's policy, the final vote showed the president falling 13 votes short of the 34 needed to sustain the veto. ABSTRACT 24 British pop music of the 1980s can be taken as sign of the social and economic changes that were happening, as well as a form of expression and identification for social minority groups that played a very important role in its stylistic delineation. The production team Stock, Aiken and Waterman, using a series of constant musical sounds, knew how to bring the sounds from the underground circuit and use it to dominate the music market by the end of the decade.

As Frith points out “Twentieth-century popular music means the twentieth-century popular record” (1992: 50). The final recorded song is the end product of a recording process, a process that includes technical and creative input from a variety of personnel. These can include the artist, recording engineers, sound mixers and the record producer, what Hennion refers to as the “creative collective” (1990: 186). Additionally, Theberge notes that within this recording practice “The process of multitrack recording has become the primary mode of production in popular music” (2001: 11). Given this acknowledgement and the importance placed on the recording process it is surprising that there is still relatively little detailed academic research regarding the recording process, or those involved in it.
