This year, MNSPJ is pleased to award two $2,000 scholarships. The funds for the scholarship are generated, in part, through your purchases at the Page One Awards Silent Auction. In addition, the board traditionally directs a portion of the local membership dues to fund the scholarships. The scholarship application process is highly competitive, and applicants must either be enrolled in a post-secondary institution in Minnesota or be a Minnesota high school graduate enrolled in a post-secondary institution outside of Minnesota. Jacob Belgum, of Atwater, Minn., is a junior at Augustana University, where he is studying journalism and accounting. After years reporting and editing for the campus paper, Belgum is set to become the editor-in-chief of the Augustana Mirror next year.
