Katharine T. Carroll Managing Director Trowbridge & Tintera LLC In 1990, Katharine Carroll founded KTCommunications (KTC), a small public relations firm. KTC devises and manages publicity strategies to generate consumer and trade exposure for major magazines, authors, artists, programs, events, filmmakers, business, finance and other industry experts. KTC handles all aspects of public relations, including editorial and trade press releases, pitch letters, print placement and broadcast interviews, and special events, conventions, trade shows. KTC has been responsible for numerous national and local television, radio, internet and print placements yearly. KTC currently is the U.S. publicity director for Titan Books, and Titan Comics a UK-based publisher of science fiction, fantasy, horror, autobiography, biography, art, music, photography, comics, graphics novels, film & TV companions, and reference titles; as well as the exceptional pulp crime fiction imprint Hard Case Crime (both distributed by Random House). Among some of the hundreds of book authors/projects KTC has handled are: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's novel Mycroft Holmes; Stephen King's pulp noir novel Joyland; Evangeline Lilly's (Lost, and The Hobbit) illustrated children's book The Squickerwonkers; Cathleen Smith and Fred Schneider's (B-52s) illustrated children's book Sassafrass Jones published in collaboration with plush toy manufacturer Steiff; Comics legend Joe Simon and The Simon and Kirby Library; The Art of Jim Lee; Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae; The Art of Drew Struzan; Kevin Smith's Shootin the Sh*t with Kevin Smith, My Boring Ass Life and Crazy for Cult: Cult Movie Art; Tim Lebbon's Coldbrook, and The Silence; Sci-Fi authors including Michael Moorcock, Christopher Priest, George Mann, Chris Wooding, James P. KTC formerly directed U.S. publicity for Osprey Publishing - a military history book publishing company, and its sister imprint and publishers of SF/F, Angry Robot. KTC also represents several individual book authors in fiction, travel, history, design, children’s, and religion fields. KTC has also worked in collaboration with Giles Communications, in White Plains, N.Y., in the handling of publicity for various projects including: product placements for The Dial Corporation; Yamaha’s digital music products, and the national music programs run by the International Association of Music Merchants. Prior to her position at KTC, Carroll was a senior publicist in the corporate communications department at Time Inc. Magazines, a division of Time Warner Inc., where she began her career in publicity in 1980. At Time Inc. for ten years, Carroll was part of a team handling p.r. efforts for Time, Life, People, Money, Fortune, as well as the publicity launches for Time Inc’s Entertainment Weekly, Discover and TV CableWeek. Carroll worked closely with the editorial staff at these publications to develop, implement and deliver ideal strategies for broadening awareness. Carroll graduated with a B.A. in English from Boston University in 1980. She is a native New Yorker and resides in Westchester, N.Y., with her husband and their three children. 2015 .
