OFFICE 365 - System and Hardware requirements

The in the table below apply to 365 Apps for enterprise, as well as all business, education, and government plans. They also apply to standalone plans for individual services, such as email-only or online-meetings-only plans. Apps such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, for Business, , Project, Visio, and Power BI are also covered by the table below.

Display

• Windows OS: 1280 768 screen resolution (32-bit requires hardware acceleration for 4K and higher)

• macOS: 1280 x 800 screen resolution

Graphics

• Windows OS: Graphics hardware acceleration requires DirectX 9 or later, with WDDM 2.0 or higher for (or WDDM 1.3 or higher for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update). Skype for Business requires DirectX 9 or later, 128 MB graphics memory, and 32-bits-per-pixel-capable format.

• macOS: No graphics requirements.

Operating system

• Windows OS: Windows 10 SAC, .1, Windows 2019 or Windows Server 2016. Please note Apps for enterprise will be supported on Windows Server 2016 through October 2025.

• macOS: One of the three most recent versions of macOS. When a new version of macOS is released, the macOS requirement becomes one of the then-current three most recent versions: the new version of macOS and the previous two versions.

• iOS: Office for iPad® and iPhone® (including Outlook for iOS on iPad® and iPhone®) requires iOS 12.0 or later. Office for iPad Pro™ requires iOS 11.0 or later Office is supported on the two most recent versions of iOS. When a new version of iOS is released, the Office requirement becomes the two most recent versions: the new version of iOS and the previous version.

• Android: Office for Android can be installed on tablets and phones running any of the supported versions of Android and have an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor. Starting on July 1, 2019, support will be limited to only the last four major versions of Android.

Browser

• Safari and Chrome: Microsoft 365 and Office 2019 are designed to work with the current version of the Safari and Chrome browsers.

: Microsoft 365 and Office 2019 are designed to work with the latest version of the Microsoft Edge browser. Microsoft Edge browser updates are available through the Windows Servicing branches. Office might continue to work with versions of the Edge browser older than the latest branch, but Office can’t provide any guarantees.

Explorer: Microsoft 365 and Office 2019 are designed to work with 11. We recommend that you upgrade to Internet Explorer 11, if you are using an earlier version. Office might continue to work with versions of Internet Explorer other than Internet Explorer 11, but Office can’t provide any guarantees.

• If your organization is dependent upon earlier versions of Internet Explorer to access older web apps and services, you should consider upgrading to Internet Explorer 11 and evaluating Enterprise Mode for Internet Explorer 11, which provides backward compatibility for legacy web apps. • Firefox: Most Microsoft 365 apps and Office 2019 are designed to work with the current version of Firefox. However, Firefox does not fully support meetings.

• Microsoft Teams meetings are fully supported on the latest versions of Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. For more details on browser support for Teams meetings, see Limits and specifications for Microsoft Teams: Browsers.

.NET version

• Windows OS: Some features may require .NET 3.5 or 4.6 and higher to also be installed. Microsoft Teams requires 4.6 or higher.

Other

Video calls & meetings:

• For a better experience with video calls and online meetings, we recommend using a that has a 2.0 GHz processor and 4.0 GB RAM (or higher). The optional Blur my background video effect requires a processor with Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2) support. • Teams requires a USB 2.0 video camera, a , and an audio-output device in order to utilize its full range of calling and meeting features.

Teams live events:

• If you are producing a Teams live events, we recommend using a computer that has a Core i5 Kaby Lake processor, 4.0 GB RAM (or higher) and hardware encoder. See Hardware decoder and encoder driver recommendations for a list of unsupported decoders and encoders.
