Background:

Katni district situated in the North eastern parts of the state of Madhya Pradesh it has a perfect balance between agricultural productivity and industrial developments. Paddy, wheat, gram and pulses are the main crops of the district. The district also has many industries out of which the most important are the mineral based industries and the pulses mills.

Katni is also known as the city of lime, as it is rich in reserve of limestone. Minerals are found in large part of Katni so the industries of mineral based are growing rapidly besides these pulses mills are very much found in Katni. Katni has an old industrial glory and connection with Indian railways. Katni Junction is a major rail junction of Indian Railway and Rail links from the junction travel in five directions and approximately 215 trains pass the junction every day. Katni has the biggest Diesel Loco Shed of Indian railways having 200 locomotives.

All these have strengthen the position of Katni in commerce and industry field. Defence is also an upcoming sector in Katni which can be explored and connectivity to and Satna which already having the big industry base of cement and mineral industries makes Katni a preferred investment destination.

The need of hour is working for the delivery of quality products matching the global defence requirements. With six ordnance factories in Madhya Pradesh including Vehicle Factory Jabalpur and location advantage to Katni, it could become the hub for defence industry in future.

With a consistent growth and 4 Krishi Karman Award at National Level it has been proved that Madhya Pradesh has become the number one state in the field of Agri Produce in .
