Gavin MacLeod Joins DA Staff

(Cincinnati, ) - CDA Academy Director David Robertson and Technical Director Chris Black are excited to announce the addition of Gavin MacLeod to the CDA staff. Gavin joins a talented coaching staff, and will serve as the head coach for the 2005 (u14) DA team.

“After a thorough search, we are delighted to add a coach of Gavin’s caliber and experience. He brings a lot to the program both on and off the field, and fits in perfectly with our already top notch staff”, said Robertson. Gavin is looking forward to getting started, "I am delighted to be ​ joining the Cincinnati Development Academy coaching staff. The CDA has quickly gained an excellent reputation nationwide and I look forward to working with David Robertson and Chris Black to help them continue the tremendous job they are doing in developing elite players in one of the best club environments in the country. It is a very exciting period for soccer in the city as the success of FC Cincinnati is having a palpable impact on all levels of the game from professional, through college, all the way down to grassroots. To be able to work in such a unique club setting and with some phenomenally talented coaches and players is a very exciting, humbling experience, and I can't wait to get started."

Gavin has over a decade of coaching experience and is currently the Assistant Coach for the University of Cincinnati's women's soccer team. Serving in this role for the last 18 months, Gavin helped the Bearcats to a third-place finish in the American Athletic Conference and reach the programs highest ranking of #11 during the 2017 season.

MacLeod originally came to Cincinnati in 2012 and coached with Kings Hammer and then with Cincinnati United Premier (CUP) before his move to AFC in Atlanta, Georgia to become their Girls Director of Coaching.. In that time he was also the assistant coach at the (USL PDL), was the Head Coach of the Cincinnati Saints (NPSL) and spent 2 seasons as the Head Coach of the (W-League) women's team where he coached numerous USYNT players as well as USWNT member Rose Lavelle and Canadian National Team member Vanessa Gilles.

MacLeod first came to the States to attend Lincoln Memorial University, where he was a standout on the pitch for the Railsplitters. The 2009 graduate played four years for LMU and helped them to the 2007 regular season title in the South Atlantic Conference and 2006 NCAA Division II Final Four before advancing to the national final in 2007. In 2010 he obtained a Master degree in Sport & Exercise Nutrition from Leeds Metropolitan University in Leeds, England.

MacLeod holds several coaching certificates, including a UEFA 'B' Licence, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, United Soccer Coaches Mental/Physical Player Development ​ Diploma, NCSA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and a Register of Exercise Professionals Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Management Certificate.
