I take this opportunity to present the cultural associations ( Raagam, Thalam, Pallavi) Annual report for the academic year 2019-2020. Consider a tree for a moment, as beautiful as trees are to look at, we don’t see what goes on underground. As they grow roots trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don’t see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree, Here Thiruthangal Nadar College has been the deep roots of each and every students life it gives not only academic skills but also non-academic activities to bring out the extraordinary talents of each students and provide them with a good platform. All these things would not be happen without the help of our Secretary and Correspondent Thiru. M.G.E. Selapalam , Dr. S. Murugesan Principal and Our Benevolent Management. The Cultural Committee of the college works with the objective of developing the academic and cultural talents of the students, improving their capabilities to work as a team and raising the level of self confidence in interacting with fellow students and peers. Our aim is to give opportunities to all the students to be involved in culturally enriching activities. To give those students with special talents a chance to extend themselves and to become people of expertise. To expand our students appreciation of cultural activities. “ There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world- those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed”- Ray Yes, here the cultural association has many successful journeys each and every year. The students of this association has represented many intercollegiate events and brought more laurels and medal but also they have done some many social awareness activities through various NGO’. This makes them to become a good citizen as well as good human for this society. The following are the events participated by our students in intercollegiate levels they are 1. On 1st August 2019, 15 of our students participated at Sri Kaniyaka Parameswari College and won II Prize in Adzap and II Prize in group event. 2. On 9th August 2019, 25 of our students participated at Loyola Institute of Technology and won Ist Prize in Adaptune I Place in Meme Creation, I Prize in Adzap and Treasure hunt and also participated in various events conducted by the same college. 3. On 10th August 2019, 15 students participated at Vel Tech College and won II prize in Group Dance and Singing 4. On 5th Sept. 2019, 20 students participated at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute and won prizes in I Place Connections I Place Mime, I Place Dance and also our college has won the runner up title out of 30 colleges were participated . 5. On 9th September 2019, 30 students participated in Annai Violet College of Arts and Science and won I Prize in Adzap, III Prize in Quiz, II Prize in APP Creations, III Prize in Product Packing, I Prize in Role Play 6. On 16th October 2019, 2 Students participated at Gurunanak College and won II Prize in Dual Dance. 7. On 18th October 2019, 10 students participated at DG Vaishnava College and won II Prize in Adzap with a cash award of Rs. 2000 8. On 3rd January 2020, 20 students participated at Eswari Engineering College and won I st Prize in Adzap , IPL Auction with a cash prize of Rs.2500. 9. On 25th Jan 2020 our students participated at JNN Engineering College and won II Place in Adzap & I place in Sneak and participated in Quiz, Treasure Hunt, Best Art out of Waste etc. 10. On 9th January 2020, 35 students participated at Sri Muthukumara Swamy College and won I Prize in Mime, III Prize in Group Dance I and III Prize in One Minute Challenge III Prize in Fruit Art and our college has won the overall championship out of 20 colleges that participated. 11. On 31st January 2020 15 of our students participated at St Peter’s Engineering Colleges and won I place in connections. 12. On 5th Feb 2020, 20 students participated at Pachiappa’s College and won III Prize in Adzap, III Prize in Ramp walk 13. On 7th Feb 2020, 30 students participated at Gurunanak College and won III Prize in Mime and III prize in Corporate walk. 14. On 12th Feb 2020, 25 students participated at Vel’s Group of Institution and won II & III Prize in Adzap and Mime 15. On 13th Feb 2020, 20 students participated at Measi Institute of Information Technology and won II Place in Art from waste. 16. On 14th Feb 2019, 30 students participated at Saveetha Engineering College and won II Prize in Traditional Walk, II prize in Mime and III Prize in Group Dance Apart from this our students presented various activities in coordination with welfare association 1. On May 18th 2020, 15 Students presented a street play on the theme Child Abuse at Chennai Central Railway Station conducted by Child Helpline 2. On 31st May, 10 students presented a Mime & Street play on the theme Tobacco Awareness in the Presence of Viyabarigal Sanga Thalaivar Thiru. Vellaiyan on the same day our students have done Mime at 25 places in the Chennai city and it was published in the Hindu News Paper. 3. On Dec 2019 our students presented a Street Play in a programme Conducted by Government General Hospital Chengalpat on the theme Organ Donations. Being thankful and expressing our gratitude is an important part of being happy in life. Finding a proper way to thank others for their generosity or reminding ourselves just how we have to be thankful for can be rewarding year around. On this occasion I would like to thank a few people who have supported this cultural team for its successful journey. I express my sincere gratitude to our Secretary, Principal, and Vice Principal’s for their encouragement and also the heads of various departments for motivating and send their department students to participate in Cultural activities. My sincere thanks to the Office people, Mr. Gangadharan and his Team for arranging necessary things for students while they come for practice during Saturday and Sunday. A special thanks to our management for providing the travelling allowance for the cultural students. Finally I would like to thank all our final year cultural students who has taken lead for the successful journey of cultural association of the year 2019-2020 I conclude my report and Looking for the same kind of support from all the ends for the upcoming years. MEDICAL UNIVERSITY CHENNAI, INDIA MAY 2020 ABSTRACT Background and Aim: Transfusion-transmissible infections such as HIV, HCV and HBV are among the greatest threats to blood safety and potential serious chronic sequelae associated with readily transmitted agents. The implementation of these new highly sensitive 4th generation ELISA tests has significantly enhances early detection of HIV,HCV and HBV infection compare with 3rd generation ELISA.Hence, this study is aimed to compare the 4th generation ELISA with third generation ELISA for early detection of HIV, HCV and HBV infection among voluntary blood donors. Materials and Methods: This Cross-sectional study was conducted over one year period from August 2018- July 2019 in the Department of Transfusion Medicine, The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai. All blood units were tested for HIV I&II, HCV antibodies and HBsAg using 3rd generation ELISA (Merilisa hiv 1 & 2 gen 3, Merilisa HCV and Merlisa HBsAg kits manufactured by Meril diagnostics). In addition donor units were screening with 4th generation HIV Ag-Ab, HCV Ag-Ab and HBsAg ELISA (Genscreen ULTRA HIV Ag-Ab kits, Monolisa HCV Ag-Ab ULTRA V2 kit and Monolisa HBsAg ULTRA ELISA kits manufactured by Bio Rad). Results: Among total 373 voluntary blood donor samples, 3 were found to be seroreactive for HBsAg by 3rd and 4th generation ELISA.
