  • Guernsey All-Time Performances
Guernsey All-Time Performances Conventions used throughout listings These are intended to be (Guernsey Bailiwick) National record lists. Qualification for inclusion will be by birth or meeting a qualification period of 2 years residency. Athletes maintaining or asserting eligibility status for opposing competing nations/islands other than umbrella GB “Home Nations” will not be included. Every effort will be made to log performances by newly resident athletes but any such ‘pending’ performances (normally denoted by italics) will only be fully ratified once a two year period of residency is met. Non-birthright athletes who cease to become resident will not be able to record valid performances once their period of residency is finished but performances achieved during their qualifying two year residency period will remain in lists. These are senior all-time lists. Performance at Under 20, Under 17, Under 15 and U13 ages are included and noted (senior specification weights/heights if applicable to event)…where included they are not necessarily age group records as some higher ranking athletes with performances at older age groups may also have surpassed these whilst younger. wa = Wind Assisted performance where of note, included for interest only i = Performance achieved within indoor competition. y or fi converted imperial performance – courtesy Ray Hollis Hand timed(Sprints up to and including 400m/400mH) & Non Wind recorded(to 200m & Horizontal Jumps) will not be included beyond 2018. original 22nd Feb 2016 - latest update 12 Sept 2021

  • Enewsletter Athletics Development Officer Welcome to the Third Edition of the Guernsey Athletics Enewsletter
eNewsletter Athletics Development Officer Welcome to the third edition of the Guernsey Athletics eNewsletter. I hope you have all had a great month! It has been extremely busy both here and further afield. I have written fairly extensively about the Commonwealth Games athletes later in the eNewsletter – it was fantastic to see them performing so well in Guernsey colours on the global stage. The Intertrust Easter Running Festival was a fantastic event this year – I feel it definitely took a big step forwards from last year and the atmosphere was great. If we can arrange better weather for next year there will be no stopping us! This weekend sees the start of the Intertrust Track & Field Challenge as the outdoor season begins. Please support this event as it is in place for all of the youngsters who train with the club. Though there are usually some headline grabbers competing (including plenty of Island Games medallists) the events are fully inclusive as our cross country events are in the winter. All track races will be graded according to declared PB’s – and we have more field event opportunities this year. Jumping and throwing can be great fun and we are working towards improving our coaching offerings in these events too! There is a £1 discount on field event entries for the whole year! Check out the event page on the website for details or email me. As we head into the summer I hope to see some of our youngsters who usually prioritise a winter team sport come back into regular training to see how they get on.

eNewsletter Athletics Development Officer Welcome to the second edition of the Guernsey Athletics eNewsletter. I’ll be honest – I am typing this up in a rather different setting from what I expected. I expect most of our members have heard the news that Sam Wallbridge unfortunately hit a hurdle in training on Monday and subsequently has broken his collarbone. It is a horrible situation for him and I know from speaking to him today (Wednesday) that he still cannot believe what has happened. The Commonwealth Games was supposed to be the culmination of years of hard work and plenty of ups and downs…unfortunately he will have to wait until 2022 for the chance to represent Guernsey on the big stage. For me personally it was a difficult day on Monday following a call from Sam at 4:30am, which I took in my hotel room at Manchester Airport. I had to decide over the following 2 hours whether to travel to Gold Coast regardless of the fact the relay was now out of the question, or to return home. Though I believe it is important to keep things in perspective – for me this was simply sport, after all – making a decision like that at such an early hour and after such a shocking occurrence was very challenging. Ultimately it could be argued that I should have gone and supported Dave Legg and the other athletes in my role as Development Officer but on the other hand there are plenty of coaches, athletes and events at home which would benefit from my support over the coming month.
