Finney Facts: Shawn Finney became the 21st head coach in Tulane basketball history on July 19, 2000. He had served as an assistant coach for the past 15 years, including stops at Kentucky, Georgia, and Tulsa. In 1998, Finney was a key to the Kentucky team which captured the NCAA National Championship. His teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past seven years. The Mustangs, with one of the top backcourts in the nation, jumped out to an early lead. The SMU defense held Tulane to just 19 Loyola percent shooting in the first half as the Mustangs built a 44-18 advan- tage.
