Dr. Garima Tiwari, the conference convenor, conceptualised and organised this conference which deliberated on India’s New Education Policy 2020 and its globalising effects on legal education. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon'ble Minister of Law and Justice, Communications, Electronics & Inaugural Session of the International Conference IT, Government of India. In addition, the inaugural panel included Mr. S. Prabakaran, Senior Advocate and Co- Chairman, Bar Council of India; and Dr. Leena Chandran Wadia, Member, Drafting Committee of the Draft National Education Policy 2019. Along with eminent speakers from India, the conference brought together scholars and lawyers from different countries including Argentina, Spain, USA, United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa, and Pakistan on the same platform in the technical sessions and the two Panel Discussions on the themes ‘Internationalisation and Privatisation of Legal Education: Pedagogy and Practice’ and ‘Legal Education in Globalised World’. January 21: School of Law (SOL) hosted its 13th Socratic Lecture on January 21, 2021. The lecture was delivered by the expert speaker Mr. Parvatheesam Kanchinadham, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, Tata Steel on the topic ‘Corporate Governance Mechanisms in India and their Effectiveness’. 4 5 January 29: A special lecture on ‘Trademarks and Copyrights’ was organized by the Centre for Law, Technology & Innovation (CLTI), SOL. The lecture on ’Regulatory Framework for Fantasy Sports’ was delivered by Mr. Saurabh Nandrekar, Managing Associate, Fidus Law Chambers. January 29: Students and faculty of Legal Aid Clinic, SOL, Bennett University participated in the Student Workshop on ‘Law Clinics’ organised by the Law Clinic of University of Bristol, UK on January 29, 2021. The participating universities of the workshop included University of Bristol UK, Bar Ilan University, Israel, University of Bristol Law Clinic, UK, Nottingham Trent University, UK and Universidad de Alcalá, Spain. SOL Students, Aakaansha Arya and Kush Aryan Gupta along with faculty Dr. Garima Tiwari participated in the workshop. February 12: School of Law organized a special lecture on ‘Anti-Defection Laws in India: A Critical Analysis’ to discuss and deliberate on the key aspects relating to ‘Law and Politics’. To discuss the genesis of ‘Anti- Defection Law in India’, Mr. Ravindra Garimella, Former Joint Secretary (Legislation) at Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India was invited who delivered a two-hour lecture on the topic. The program was organized under the head of 'Constitution @70'. The chair for this special lecture was Prof. (Dr.) Nuzhat Parveen Khan and the moderator of the program was Dr. Daksha Sharma.
