The scholarship is awarded based not only on academic success, but also on a commitment to improving their community through service.

YOUTH FOOTBALL CLINIC Every summer, the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl hosts a FREE Youth Football Clinic for area children at Independence Stadium. Participants receive the opportunity to learn from coaches from across the region, as well as current and former college players. In 2018, more than 300 kids participated in the Youth Football Clinic, and All-American LSU linebacker Devin White served as one of the clinic’s coaches.

“SHOW YOUR INDEPENDENCE” ART CONTEST Seven years ago, the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl started the “Show Your Independence” Art Contest, which asks local elementary school kids to draw what the word “Independence” means to them. Winners are selected from each grade level at each school and given two tickets to the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl, and their artwork is put on display at Independence Stadium during the game.

KID COMBINE PRESENTED BY RAISING CANE’S In it’s second year, the Kid Combine takes aspects of the NFL Combine, and allows kids to participate. The kids compete in The 40, The Shuttle, The Throw and The Catch, along with two new events for 2018, The Ladder and The Tackling Bags. The top performers at the end of the year will have an opportunity to
