We certainly understand that the many Issues and problems surrounding DTV have kept Mr. Smith quite busy. Although we don't have to deal with those issues in the same way your company does, it is quite apparent that DTV has been a disaster and many in the industry wish it would just go away. From what we've been hearing, many stations are extremely reluctant to build DTV facilities and definitely won't meet the deadline. Just a few days ago, one large group owner began a major lobbying effort to persuade Congress to allow DTV permits to be tumed back in. With DTV having been a failure in the marketplace, with the technical and legal issues that remain, with the lack of any business model that could sustain DTV operations and with the networks' plans to reduce or eliminate compensation to affiliates, there doesn't seem to be a reason (other than the federal mandate) for DTV transmission systems to be built. From IBN's standpoint. we want to keep all of our stations on the air. We don't sell airtime or commercials. but our mission is very important to us and to our viewers. The loss of our stations in Lufkin, Longview and Crockett would be devastating. From your company's standpoint, perhaps it would be desirable to seek a moratorium on DTV buildout obligations, especially in small and medium-sized markets.

Protecting Postmodern Historicism: Identification, vE aluation, and Prescriptions for Preeminent Sites Abstract Just as architectural history traditionally takes the form of a march of styles, so too do preservationists repeatedly campaign to save seminal works of an architectural manner several decades after its period of prominence. This is currently happening with New Brutalism and given its age and current unpopularity will likely soon befall postmodern historicism. In hopes of preventing the loss of any of the manner’s preeminent works, this study provides professionals with a framework for evaluating the significance of postmodern historicist designs in relation to one another. Through this, the limited resources required for large-scale preservation campaigns can be correctly dedicated to the most emblematic sites. Three case studies demonstrate the application of these criteria and an extended look at recent preservation campaigns provides lessons in how to best proactively preserve unpopular sites.

Led by U.S. Conference of Mayors President Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, over 60 mayors will also meet with Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and White House Senior Staff. The mayors meeting with President Obama and Vice President Biden will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the East Room of the White House and will be OPEN to the press.     Sex is not without its advantages Now that the baseball season in town is effectively over, cook up a good local sex scandal or two to divert attention away from these far more serious issues. Sanderson As Chicago's homicide rate and Illinois' pension crisis continue to garner national media attention and spiral out of control, our city and state politicians are Nero-like in their responses. We need some bold action, or at least diversion, and soon, or we risk sinking even lower on the political radar screen — we are only fifth in state population and thanks to Toronto, we are now the fifth-largest city in North America. The "flyover" section of our country has a lot to learn from the coasts — and even abroad. Thus I offer this humble suggestion: Now that the baseball season in town is effectively over, cook up a good local sex scandal or two to divert attention away from these far more serious issues. I'm not asking for an Anthony Weiner on any given day. And not even a John Edwards. But can't we at least produce in this city and state someone on the order of Eliot Spitzer or Silvio Berlusconi? I'd even settle for Mark Sanford or David Vitter. Sure, we have had more than our fair share of high-profile felons — former Govs. Rod Blagojevich, George Ryan, Dan Walker, Otto Kerner. But for what? Corruption, racketeering, bribery, fraud. Boring stuff. Where were the sexting emails, prostitutes, strippers, mistresses, photos of a blue dress or the Appalachian Trail? Our about-one-scandal-per-year Chicago aldermen have gotten their three squares a day at the public trough for the mundane: corruption, bribery, tax evasion.

The widespread geographic and bipartisan support for taking this action demonstrates a keen realization that California is losing tens of thousands of middle class jobs and significant tax revenue to other states and nations when it comes to film and television production. Ten years ago, motion picture production took place in cities across California. Now California has lost nearly all big budget feature film production and most television production to other states and nations which have ramped up their incentive programs. In 2012, only one big budget feature film was shot entirely in California, and in 2013, only 39 out of 137 one-hour television series were filmed here. Simply stated, the demand for film and television productions that want to remain in California far exceedsDEADLINE.com the resources available within the state’s current production incentive program. According to data from the California Film Commission, less than one in every ten projects received California’s incentive in 2013 – 380 film and television projects applied and only 34 projects are set to receive credits. Extending California’s film and television production tax credit program is a smart, prudent investment in California’s future and economic competitiveness. The program is one of California’s most efficient and proven economic development tools, generating 51,000 jobs and providing $4.5 billion in direct spending since its inception in 2009.

BACKGROUND The City of San Jose's participation in the Sister Cities program has been creating official, long- term relationships between San Jose and international cities as a way to foster peace and global understanding, as well as economic and educational growth. Successful sister city programs facilitate collaboration and exchanges in education, the arts, sports, civic affairs, economic development, and government. The cultural and historic city of Suwon, South Korea is the provincial capital and the largest metropolis of Gyeonggi-do province with a population of 1.25 million. Suwon is also the global headquarters of Samsung Corporation. As we all recall, Samsung Semiconductor Inc. recently showed their commitment to San Jose in September 2015 by building their 9.4-acre facility in North San Jose. With 700 employees, the company plans to eventually employ 2,000 workers as they strengthen their presence in the capital of Silicon Valley. We have the prime opportunity to build a relationship with a city that can share our interest of economic development, technology, cultural vibrancy and beyond. Suwon City and San Jose can both benefit from a Sister City affiliation and the relationship can add to our overall Sister City program.
