• OUR JUDGE • Mrs Rachel Wray (Perrault)

My involvement with started by showing Afghans in the 1970s. Then I gained experience in the Working and Gundog breeds with my first husband and with my second husband have made up Champions in the Toy and Group. Breeding and making up a Champion bitch also CC and RCC winning dogs plus Top Whippet Brood Bitch in 2000.

I accepted my first judging appointment in 1994 and concentrated on my own breeds at first but enjoyed learning about other breeds in the Group and started attending various Hound Seminars in 1997. I have continued to expand my knowledge wherever possible by stewarding, attending breed shows and educational days. I awarded CCs in for the first time in 2015 and this year I shall be awarding CCs in 4 further Hound breeds.

Hounds have always been my main interest because of their versatility. I have enjoyed participating in , Whippet Racing and Working Trials with the . Seeing both Sight and Scent Hounds Working using their abilities is always a great pleasure and aids the understanding of their individual breed characteristics.

Currently I serve on the committees of South Yorkshire Hound Society, Midland Club and The Association of Breeders.

I am very much looking forward to this appointment and judging some lovely Ridgebacks. Thank you to the committee for their kind invitation.

Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 21. Should the judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Committee reserves the right of appointing another judge (subject to the approval of the Kennel Club) to fulfil the duty. In this case, exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be refunded. 22. An announcement prior to date of closing of entries in “Our Dogs” of an alteration or addition to the schedule or these regulations shall be deemed sufficient notice thereof. 23. The Committee will not be responsible in any way for any claim of injury or compensation occasioned by or arising out of the holding of the show, or by reason of the act or default of any person in attendance or present there at. 24. The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of dogs brought for exhibition, but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and all other persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of or damage to any dogs or other property, whether arising from accident or any cause whatever, or from any act or omission, their officers, agents, servants or others. 29. The Committee will not be responsible for exhibitors missing their classes. 30. The Judge will be instructed to withhold the prize or prizes in any class if in the Judge’s opinion the dog or dogs exhibited do not possess sufficient merit. Judges are not empowered to give prizes beyond those offered in the schedule of prizes. The Judge’s decision in all cases shall be final. 31. All Rules, Regulations or Definitions and Instructions of the nature of Rules and Regulations printed for convenience in other parts of this schedule shall be deemed to be the Regulations of the Committee and shall have the same effect as if they formed part of these Regulations. Should any question arise not provided for in these Regulations, the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club. 32.
