Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices as amended on 3 May 1996 (Protocol II to the 1980 Convention as amended on 3 May 1996) Article I - Scope of application 1.This Protocol relates to the use on land of the mines, booby-traps and other devices, defined herein, including mines laid to interdict beaches, waterway crossings or river crossings, but does not apply to the use of anti-ship mines at sea or in inland waterways. 2.This Protocol shall apply, in addition to situations referred to in Article I of this Convention, to situations referred to in Article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949. This Protocol shall not apply to situations of internal disturbances and tensions, such as riots, isolated and sporadic acts of violence and other acts of a similar nature, as not being armed conflicts. 3.In case of armed conflicts not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply the prohibitions and restrictions of this Protocol. 4.Nothing in this Protocol shall be invoked for the purpose of affecting the sovereignty of a State or the responsibility of the Government, by all legitimate means, to maintain or re-establish law and order in the State or to defend the national unity and territorial integrity of the State. 5.Nothing in this Protocol shall be invoked as a justification for intervening, directly or indirectly, for any reason whatever, in the armed conflict or in the internal or external affairs of the High Contracting Party in the territory of which that conflict occurs. -

The Italian Digital Classroom: Italian Culture and Literature through Digital Tools and Social Media 1. Using Video Games to Teach Italian Language and Culture: Useful, Effective, Feasible? Video games are a highly relevant part of life for our student population. According to the Pew Research Center (PRC, 2015), half of American adults play videogames, and 70% of college students play video games “at least once in a while” (Weaver).1 Some of the current commercial console and PC video games (some of which are also available on Mac, Android, and iOS) are digital, multi-media realia that can be used to enhance language acquisition both in and outside the classroom. The advantages of realia as a whole have already been extensively explored from a theoretical standpoint (Spurr; Dlaska). The advantages include development of specific personal interests in exploring, and therefore acquiring the foreign or second (F/L2) language and culture within a context. The ultimate goal of using realia is to turn students into life-long learners of the target language and culture. According to CALL research, digital realia, given their nature as multimedia, easily-accessible, persistent cultural artifacts, are particularly advantageous in reaching that goal (Smith). Compared to other digital realia, some specific video games add additional opportunities for language exploration. All such games, while similar in nature to movies (providing exposure to listening comprehension in the spoken dialogues and reading comprehension in the subtitles) also involve important additional features such as: writing and even speaking with other online users in the target language; direct interaction and agency, which improve learning skills (Deters et al.; Mitchell and Savill- Smith; Gee, What Video Games and “Good Video Games”); and critical thinking and problem-solving, which can be applied to physical group interaction in the classroom. -

The Viet Cong (VC) have improved upon their predecessor*s techniques and are using emplaced munitions as an effective weapon. This effectiveness is attested to by the high percentage of US casualties which are caused by VC mines and booby traps. It is quite evident that we must learn something of the munitions and their use by the VC. -

0775 7097 297 Jack Eaves [email protected] Concept Artist http://jackeaves.co.uk Currently working as a Concept Artist at Rebellion Film & TV Studios, Didcot, before that I have been at Rebellion Games, Oxford since Jan 2015 and an Internship at Supermassive Games prior to that. I believe my biggest role as a concept artist is to support the team in creating the best game or product possible. Therefore I like to utilise the full range of my knowledge of different software and techniques best suited for the task I am given. I utilise fully 3D workflows including sculpting and Unreal Engine 4 to Photobash and fully painted workflows, but also not afraid to dive into my sketchbook with markers and pens to solve pesky design challenges early on. Art and being creative has been pivotal in my life for longer than I can remember. From spending countless hours gaming as a kid to sitting for days in front of my monitor watching behind the scenes documentary's for films and games; I find it purely fascinating to watch groups of creative individuals produce something so much larger than themselves that can bring such fun and awe to many others even after it is finished. I love nothing more than being part of this experience and to inspire those like myself to step into the industry and create their own adventures too. This is why I frequently try my best to make an effort to give back, from mentoring students at my past universities, providing feedback to fans of our games at conventions or providing my own support to those who email me or contact me via my website, I love this whole journey and also want others to experience the joys of it too.
