Brief Profile of Prof.D.Chennappa Brief profile of Prof.D.Chennappa Dr. D. Chennappa is Professor of Commerce at Osmania University, Hyderabad. He obtained his M.Com., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from Osmania University, Hyderabad and MBA from IGNOU. He has 24 years of teaching and research experience. He qualified National Eligibility Test (NET-1996) conducted by UGC, New Delhi. He has been teaching Quantitative Techniques for Business Decisions, Research Methodology and E-COMMERCE. He undertook four 4 minor and One major research project sponsored by Government of Andhra Pradesh and UGC-New Delhi. He authored 2 books and edited 13 books. His published books were widely acclaimed. He got published 6 papers in International paper and 30 national papers in reputed refereed national journals. He organised three national seminars and two international Conferences on relevant topic. He participated in three International conferences at USA and more than 25 National Seminars at national level. Under his supervision 2 M.Phils and 6 Ph.Ds have been awarded. He is a UGC Research Awardee - (2012-14). He is a columnist for Eenadu daily News Paper. Chennappa has served as NCC officer, NSS Co-ordinator, Warden, Vice Principal, and Chief Warden for university Mess and Hostels. He has introduced Online Hostel admission system in the university in 2013. Chennappa is a Founder- cum- Executive Editor for Osmania Journal for International Business Studies (ISSN 00973-5372) and President for Global Research welfare Society Publication (ISBN 978-81-910003-0-6). He is a life member INDO-US Foundation ( INDUS) and the Indian Commerce Association and Indian Accounting Association. Abstract: During the past few years grave concern is being voiced by people from different walks of life over the deteriorating conditions of Hussain Sagar Lake. As a result of heavy anthropogenic pressures, the eco-systems of lake are not only strengthening in its surface becoming poor in quality, posing health hazards to the people living in around close proximity to the lake. Over the years the entire eco-system of Hussain Sagar Lake has changed. The water quality has deteriorated considerably during the last three decades. Over the years the lake has become pollution due to immersion of Ganesh Idols. Many undesirable changes in the structure of biological communities have resulted and some important species have either declined or completely disappeared.     tariq rahman Urdu in Hyderabad State* The state of Hyderabad was carved out in 1724 by the Asif Jahis (Āṣif Jāhīs), the governors of the Mughal emperors in the Deccan, when they became powerful enough to set themselves up as rulers in their own right. The Nizams1ófrom Mīr Qamruíd-Dīn Khān (1724ñ48) until the sixth ruler of the house Mīr Maḥbūb ʿAlī Khān (1869ñ1911)óused Persian as their court language, in common with the prevailing fashion of their times, though they spoke Urdu at home. Persian was, however, replaced by Urdu in some domains of power, such as law courts, administration and education, toward the end of the nineteenth century. The focus of this article is on the manner in which this transition took place. This phenomenon, which may be called the ìUrduizationî of the state, had important consequences. Besides the historical construction of events, an attempt will be made to understand these consequences: the link of ìUrduizationî with power, the construction of Muslim identity, and socio- economic class. Ramachandraiah* Sheela Prasad** Abstract Being located in the Deccan Plateau region, Hyderabad city has been dotted with a number of lakes, which formed very important component of its physical environment. With the increasing control of the State and private agencies over the years, and rapid urban sprawl of the city, many of the water bodies have been totally lost. Many have been shrunk in size while the waters of several lakes got polluted with the discharge of untreated domestic and industrial effluents. This study makes an attempt to analyse the transformation of common property resources (the lakes) into private property. The adverse consequences of the loss of water bodies are felt in the steep decline in water table and the resultant water crisis in several areas. Further, the severity of flooding that was witnessed in August 2000 was also due to a reduction in the carrying capacity of lakes and water channels. The State has not bothered to either implement the existing laws or pay attention to the suggestions of environmental organisations in this regard. The paper argues that in this process of loss of water bodies in Hyderabad, the State is as much responsible as private agencies in terms of the policies that it has formulated and the lack of ensuring legislation and implementation.

H E H Nawab Sir Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, the seventh Nizam, ownes its name to him. The idea of the University was, however, conceived by Sir Akbar Hydari who became the Prime Minister of the former State of Hyderabad. Sir Akbar had conceived Osmania as a unitary and residential University with colleges, libraries, hostels, residential quarters, playgrounds, halls, etc located on campus of about 1,612 acres of which 184 acres of land was allocated to different institutions outside the city. The idea of a unitary University had to be given up as the demand for higher education within its territorial limits increased and in course of time, Osmania became teaching and affiliating university. Till 1947 the University was alimb of the Government. But in that year with the vision of Dr. Wali Mohammed, its Vice Chancellor, Osmania was granted a revised Charter and became autonomous. In 1959, the Charter was replaced by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, the Osmania University Act, 1959, which brought it in line with other two regional universities in the State. Osmania is now governed by this Act, as amended in 1966, 1976, 1981 and 1991. The establishment of Osmania University symbolizes a renaissance in the Indian Educational System and has shown a remarkable resilience throughout its existence.

Millions of people died and many millions became homeless. There was rampant crime, violence, cruelty, torture-- perpetrated by the powerful over the powerless. Hunger, deprivation, destitution, fear death, murder, oppression and exploitation were the hallmarks of the times. None felt secure from the rampant inhuman misery inflicted upon humanity by human beings only. Man became the greatest enemy of man—the deadly beast devoid of sympathy, goodness, and grace—slouching over a vast terrain in search of the human blood. The basic human rights, especially of the old people, women, children and the poor, took a severe beating at the hands of such totalitarian perpetrators of random crime and violence. Man and women needed a guaranteed protection of their life, dignity, and integrity from the blood thirsty hounds of humanity. After the end of the Second World War and the creation of the United Nations, the international community strongly felt that the human rights to life, dignity, integrity, and to other necessary things for a meaningful survival needed to be preserved and propagated by rule of law.
