2019-2020 Annual Report Annual Report The Mission of St. Mark’s The mission of St. Mark’s Cathedral School is to value the individual who comes to us, to help that student realize his or her potential, and to foster a culture that reflects Christian values, intellectual curiosity, and strong work ethic. Our goal is to develop a student who feels self-confident educationally, socially, and spiritually, and who can reach out to help others in our community. St. Mark’s Cathedral School does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, or ethnic or national origin. Message from the Head of School Dear Members of the St. Mark’s Community, Well 2020 certainly made its mark on St. Mark’s! On Friday, March 13th we had an unprecedented end-of-the-day Chapel before sending our students home for what turned out to be the end of the year. In a matter of days our teachers became virtual teachers who used Google Classroom and Zoom and self-recorded videos in order to help our children keep up with all their studies. No Fiesta, no 8th grade trip to South Louisiana, no May Day or Field Day, and no graduation. In their place was a virtual Spirit Week, a Zoom Family Trivia Night, and drive-by parades for each division. Even as we missed our friends and our classes and lost special events, we continued to pray, play, and learn and fulfill our mission. Even before the novel coronavirus pandemic, however, the 2019-2020 school year was going to be one to remember! In order to create greater transparency and coordination between the fundraising efforts of the Parents' Club and of the school’s development office, we created an overall fundraising goal under the umbrella of the Lion’s Fund, which consists of both Parents’ Club fundraising and the Annual Giving Campaign. With outstanding leadership from officers and committee chairs, the Parents’ Club raised $175,981 from the Paw Print Sprint, Christmas greenery sales, the Fiesta online auction, and other fundraisers. Sadly, the Fiesta party itself had to be canceled as a result of the stay-at-home orders, but that didn’t prevent people from bidding on fantastic finds to support the school. A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a sponsorship, greenery, auction items or race registrations in support of St. Mark’s! The Annual Giving Campaign, under the leadership of Development Director Kim Carter and Co-Chairs, Amye and Reid Wilson, raised $141,348 from 357 donors. That number includes 100% faculty and staff participation. We are so very appreciative of the generosity of our donors—thank you for making your mark on St. Mark’s! As we are almost halfway through the new school year and the pandemic continues, we offer thanks and prayers for the entire St. Mark’s community. We are not entirely certain of all that the 2020-2021 school year will bring, but all our St. Mark’s Lions will continue to pray, play, and learn. Thank you for your continued support! Faithfully Yours, Chris Carter, D.Min. Head of School Message from the Annual Fund Chairmen Dear St. Mark’s Family and Friends, We are truly grateful for all of the generous support during the 2019-2020 Annual Giving Campaign. Your gifts enabled our students to engage in a wide range of extraordinary learning opportunities, both at home and in the classroom. Thanks to you, St. Mark’s Cathedral School will continue to develop dedicated faculty members and well-rounded students. This year was another successful year for the Annual Fund with contributions of $141,348 from faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, and students. We are so fortunate to have exceeded our goal, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are proud of the way that our school community came together to do so. It takes all of us to build upon a strong foundation of past giving to ensure the future stewardship of St. Mark’s. We are so blessed that our children are able to attend a school with such strong academics and a loving Christian environment. Thank you for your generosity! Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue?
