Divakar Reddy, Shri Muthamsetti Srinivasa Rao (Avanthi), Shri Narasimham Thota, Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Shri Venkateswara Rao Magantti, Shri Murali Mohan Maganti, Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, Shri Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Dr. Naramalli Sivaprasad, Members of Lok Sabha, were detained at 1025 hrs. on 08 April, 2018 at PS Tughlak Road, New Delhi under section 65 of Delhi Police Act, 1978 for the maintenance of law & order and public peace in the area of New Delhi District. Later they were released at 1320 hrs. on the same day from P.S. Tughlak Road, New Delhi.‖ ________ -1- No.6855 Table Office Amendments to the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954 Members are informed that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs dated 05/04/2018 forwarded a copy of the notification related to The Finance Act, 2018 issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice. The Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice vide Notification No. 17 of 2018 notified the Finance Act, 2018 wherein Part V at Sl. No. 141 to 145 (page No. 48) carried out amendments to the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954. 2. In this regard, following amendments have been made in the said Act: 141. Save as otherwise provided, the provisions of this Part shall come into force from the 1st day of April, 2018. 142. In the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954 (hereafter referred to as the principal Act in this Part), section 3 shall be numbered as sub-section (1) thereof,— (i) in sub-section (1) as so renumbered, for the words ―fifty thousand rupees‖, the words ―one lakh rupees‖ shall be substituted; (ii) after sub-section (1) as so renumbered, the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:— ―(2) The salary and daily allowance of members shall be increased after every five years commencing from 1st April, 2023 on the basis of Cost Inflation Index provided under clause (v) of Explanation to section 48 of the Income -tax Act, 1961.‖. 143. In the principal Act, in section 4, in sub-section (1),— (i) clause (a) shall be omitted; (ii) in clause (b), the words ―and one fourth of the‖ shall be omitted; (iii) in clause (c), in sub-clause (i), the words ―and three-fifth of the’’ shall be omitted. 144. In the principal Act, in section 8A, in sub-section (1),–– (a) for the words ―twenty thousand rupees‖, the words ―twenty-five thousand rupees‖ shall be substituted; (b) in the proviso, for the words ―fifteen hundred rupees‖, the words ―two thousand rupees‖ shall be substituted; (c) after the proviso, the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:–– ―(1A) The pension and additional pension to every person shall be increased after every five years commencing from 1st April, 2023 on the basis of Cost Inflation Index provided under clause (v) of Explanation to section 48 of the Income-tax Act, 1961.‖ 145. In the principal Act, in section 8AC, in sub-section (2), the words, brackets and figures ―before the commencement of the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Act, 2006‖ shall be omitted and shall be deemed to have been omitted with effect from the 15th day of September, 2006.
