It can be good or bad, a life changing experience, or just a memorable event or occasion. It can fix in your memory a series of sights, smells, and associations that linger there forever. Driving is just the function of taking a car from one place to another. Most of the time all of us merely drive, but there are times when we motor memorably. These are some of those stories. I cannot remember a time when cars were not important to me. After AMama@ and ADaddy,@ I am told that some of the first words I learned to say were ABuick@ and ADeSoto,@ cars then driven by two of the members of my family who drove me around a lot. -

The Antique Expression
Volume 58, Issue 1 Feb -March, 2016 1947 Nash Ambassador Suburban: A tale of luck, perseverance, help and adventure By Ron Stein Or “A mother’s nightmare and a teenager’s dream…” Thirty years ago while driving the same old route on Highway 59 going to my office, I happened to glance toward my left - and behind a gas station and hotel sat a maroon four-door unusually shaped 1940’s classic – classic yes, as it had wooden doors and trunk. The next day, I stopped and asked in the hotel if that “woodie” is a guest’s and they reply no. Next stop, the gas station where I inquire and hear “that guy’s car is serviced here.” I ask, “is it for sale?” They don’t know but do know that it is a 1947 Nash and it runs. “Do you have a number where I may reach him?” “Yes, it’s written on the sheetrock wall by the telephone.” I call and hear a ‘please call back’ recording. The next day, Dan calls me back. “No this car is not for sale, I love it.” An AACA Award Winning Newsletter Winning Award An AACA I say, “If it ever becomes for sale please give me a call as it will go to a good home” (A line that all Gulf CoastGulf Region, Houston, Texas car people love to hear).
