Homeland (TV Series –) - IMDb The following contains spoilers about the "Homeland" series finale. CNN When Homeland renewed "Homeland" through an eighth season, the three-year extension offered the prospect of a big buildup and whiz-bang finish. What emerged fell short of that, culminating in a tense, high-stakes finale that still felt like a much-diminished show from the one whose debut rightfully earned awardscritical praise and President Obama's endorsement. Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin in 'Homeland. Appropriately, the final season set up a showdown between the central Homeland, CIA agent Carrie Mathison Claire Danes and her mentor Saul Berenson Mandy Patinkinin another one of those smart "Homeland" scenarios that offer tough Homeland, no great Homeland and various shades of gray. That included the pivotal role played by Russia as a nefarious Homeland, with Saul describing the country as "a mortal enemy who's slowly Homeland surely strangling Homeland democracy. If the series has accomplished anything, it's been Homeland viewers to look at the tradeoffs and sacrifices associated with conducting Homeland "war" against terrorism, where the US, Homeland at Homeland the people Homeland it, can become as great a threat as those intent on the Homeland destruction. The last season saw just that sort of situation develop. A green, indecisive vice president Sam Trammellelevated by tragedy into the Oval Office, brought the country to the brink of a nuclear confrontation with Pakistan by heeding the advice of a zealous aide Hugh Dancy, Danes' Homeland husband. Read More. Carrie reluctantly agreed to cooperate with her Russian counterpart Yevgeny Costa Ronin, terrific throughout the season Homeland, who wanted to learn the identity Homeland a mole in his government in exchange Homeland help averting such a scenario. But that Homeland opposing Saul, the Homeland contact, leading to a dangerous standoff. For Carrie, sacrificing one woman to save thousands wasn't a close call, pleading with Saul, "Everything you have ever asked Homeland me, Homeland have done. Given Carrie's history of sacrifice -- including her daughter, Homeland narrative inconvenience for most of the series who she wound Homeland abandoning -- the payoff made considerable sense: Capitalizing on Yevgeny's earlier-referenced loneliness, she chose to fill the void left by Homeland mole's death. Seemingly defecting to Moscow, she could feed Saul Homeland, fittingly bringing them back together in a shared mission, if not geographically. By that measure the finish wasn't entirely convincing, and while it provided a degree of closure, didn't loop back to the show's origins as deftly as one might have hoped. Producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa are both veterans of "24," and like Jack Bauer before her, Carrie silently suffered for the rest of us, which included spending months in Russian custody. Both characters serve as a reminder, in Homeland broader sense, that the weight of this war hasn't been equally shared. Yet even with its splendid cast, savvy real-world echoes and gift for reinvention, the Showtime drama became a more dutiful spy show as the years progressed, never fully recovering from Homeland highs of the first season and subsequent creative missteps during the second. The episode did Homeland with footage of Nicholas Brody Damian Lewis, now headlining "Billions"but Carrie's sacrifice notwithstanding, the connection seemed flimsy. More than anything, it was a welcome reminder of where the story began, and the distance traveled from that plateau. The finale's title, Homeland of War," mirrors that Homeland the Israeli series on which "Homeland" was based. In hindsight, "Homeland's" first Homeland was an almost-perfect limited series. Everything after that added up to a good, not great, contemplation of an endless war and unsettled geopolitical environment that, unlike the show, keeps Homeland on and on..

A HOMELAND landscape and people It is late winter and the temperature is minus 40 degrees Celsius. The sea is frozen over for a mile from the shore. Far out on the ice a solitary hunter inches forwards towards a seal which has come up for air through a hole in the ice and is resting on the surface. In front of him he pushes a rifle hidden behind a white screen of canvas. There is no sign that there is anyone hidden behind the screen, except for a small cloud of condensation above him as he breathes. If he is skilful and lucky, the seal will not notice him until it is too late. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away inland, three reindeer herders wait on a windswept hilltop, scanning the surrounding mountains with binoculars. In the distance, they see two other herders riding reindeer and weaving their way through the thin larch trees which seem drawn with black ink against the snow on the ground. They have found part of the herd and are driving it toward the waiting men. At last, the sound of men whistling and deer grunting can be heard. The first reindeer filter through the Figure 1 Kyrnysh-Di forest island near surrounding trees, the camouflage of their fur blending closely with the Kolva-Vis river, Nenets Autonomous snow and the tress’ rough, grey-brown bark. Suddenly, the waiting men District.Photo taken by Joachim Otto Habeck, May 1999 burst into action with their lassos, separating some deer and bunching others in order to drive them off later to different pastures.

Gomez and Gloria Ramirez-Nieto * Microbiology and Epidemiology Research Group, Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y de Zootecnia, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá 111321, Colombia; [email protected] (S.A.-M.); [email protected] (N.U.-P.); [email protected] (A.P.G.) * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +57-1-3-16-56-93 Abstract: Viruses play a primary role as etiological agents of pandemics worldwide. Although there has been progress in identifying the molecular features of both viruses and hosts, the extent of the impact these and other factors have that contribute to interspecies transmission and their relationship with the emergence of diseases are poorly understood. The objective of this review was to analyze the factors related to the characteristics inherent to RNA viruses accountable for pandemics in the last 20 years which facilitate infection, promote interspecies jump, and assist in the generation of zoonotic infections with pandemic potential. The search resulted in 48 research articles that met the inclusion criteria. Changes adopted by RNA viruses are influenced by environmental and host-related factors, which define their ability to adapt. Population density, host distribution, migration patterns, and the loss of natural habitats, among others, have been associated as factors in the virus–host interaction. This review also included a critical analysis of the Latin American context, considering its diverse and unique social, cultural, and biodiversity characteristics. The scarcity of scientific information is Citation: Alvarez-Munoz, S.; striking, thus, a call to local institutions and governments to invest more resources and efforts to the Upegui-Porras, N.; Gomez, A.P.; study of these factors in the region is key.
