He was scraping together a living making signs when a friend fell ill and asked him to take over a job as a painter on a movie set. He began getting more movie work, scouting for extras and, despite no formal dramatic training, even getting some bit parts in low-budget productions. In one Marathi-language movie, he played 12 diff erent characters. “I did all my life’s acting in that fi lm,” he said. “But my focus is on teaching kids.” Disappointed with the quality of coaching in the city, he launched his own school, Five-Star Acting and Dancing Classes. On a humid morning in January, under three whirring ceiling fans, he led students in a series of exaggerated facial expressions and gestures — including one of a mentally disabled person that should probably be retired — and demonstrated how to recoil from a stage punch, his moans eliciting laughs. The children then took turns delivering the long, melodramatic soliloquies that are Bollywood’s stock in trade. Finally, Laadsaheb popped in a CD of Bollywood music. The students danced around with varying degrees of choreography, some bopping like kernels of popcorn in a microwave. “Who knows if any one of them will be a star,” Laadsaheb said. “But acting requires the ability to speak in public and be confi dent. inter season doesn’t have to be only about grey and black. Pick a red accessory or a jacket to add more drama to your look, say experts. WNeha Bhasin, Creative Director, Jabong.com, and Sanhita Dasgupta, Myntra Fashion Expert, have list down some tips to play with the colour.

Little red dress: Give a twist to the classic little black dress with a red version. A day date or a dinner, there isn’t a more fail-safe option than a little red dress.

Bouts of red: If monochrome is what you are feeling sartorially, just add a hint of red to your outfi t. Go for a subdued red jacket or a scarf to strike a good balance.

Access to red: Red accessories can add more drama to your look. You can opt for a red handbag, a ruby-red statement neck piece or a pair of red pumps.

Morning to night in red: If it’s going to be another desk to disco situation, play smart. Don an off -shoulder or a cold shoulder red blouse and team it up with a pencil skirt. Replace the work blazer with a bomber for the after-hours.

Blush in red: A bold red lip is a winner all day every day. But if it’s too bold for you, opt for a tinge of blush red lips or rose eye shadow. — IANS

Curious recruitment

Everytime people think a truce has been called between Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut, something emerges to rake it all over again. The last time, it was Hrithik’s turn to launch a serious fusillade when he went all out in a publicity blitz to explain his position in the bizarre dispute in which Kangana alleges that there was an aff air between them and he says they had no contact whatsoever, forget a relationship. And now just when things seemed like it had calmed down again, the waters have got murky again. Reportedly, Hrithik had a parting with his manager recently. Guess who that manager is going to work for now? Yes, she has been hired by Kangana. That obviously gives Kangana an information pipeline into Hrithik’s fi nancial interests. Will she use it to get back at him? The manager says she has made it clear to Kangana that she wouldn’t discuss Hrithik with her. But then that might be all just for public consumption. It is hard to not see an angle in this recruitment considering the history of the two parties. Also, the issues between them seem to gain momentum when Kangana has a movie about to be released. Her next is slated to hit the screens towards the end of April. And so Hrithik might be on tenterhooks as to what controversies will be raked up.
