Visit of Hon’ble Minister, WR, RD &GR

In a step towards furthering the Development Agenda of Prime Minister Shri , Union Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Ms. along with senior officers from her Ministry to day met Bihar Shri in Patna.

She informed the Bihar Chief Minister that Central Government is constantly active to start dredging of river Ganga in Patna and work will soon start so as to bring back the flow of river on its banks in Patna. Also, in order to bring down pollution in River Ganga her ministry has sanctioned a Rs. 558 crore project to construct one each STP and sewage network at Beoor and Kamaali Chak in Bihar. The Minister also informed that for a STP & sewage network in Saidpur a total of Rs. 453.56 crore have been sanctioned at central level.

Ms. Uma Bharti further informed that work is actively underway on the three links of inter-state river links in Bihar. The Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for these is ready . Under this 1st link is –Boodhi Gandak –Noon Bayaa link for which the estimated cost is Rs. 4214 crore. The 2nd is Kosi-Mechi link having the estimated cost of Rs. 2903 crore while the 3rd one is Sakaree-Naata link of the estimated project cost of Rs. 572 crore.

She further advised that since the Northen Bihar is affected by floods while the southern part of the state is drought prone. So there is a need to construct such a project on Kosi river so that the furry of flood could be reduced in the Northern part of the state while water could be provided to the southern part. She said Centre will support fully to the state in this regard.
