This study shows how forest regrowth affects beetle species associated with old oaks in south-eastern Sweden. Beetles were trapped by pitfall traps placed in hollows and window traps placed near hollows in oak trunks in pasture woodlands. We assessed the influence of forest regrowth, tree size and original canopy cover on the species richness of saproxylic beetles (a total of 120 species identified) and the occurrence of 68 saproxylic beetle species in particular. -

V prostoru primárního bezlesí arkto- alpinní tundry byl studován vliv sjezdových tratí a invazivní d eviny borovice kle e ( Pinus mugo ) na spole enstva brouk . Na území sekundárních bezlesí podhorských luk a pastvin byl hodnocen vliv zem dlského hospoda ení na brouky a další bezobratlé. Studium vlivu lyža ského areálu prokázalo, že p estože jsou sjezdové trat v alpínské zón zájmového území provozovány zp sobem šetrným k vegetaci, tak pr kazn m ní pvodní spole enstva epigeických brouk . -

ENT . 16 GIESSEN 2008 The xylobiontic beetle fauna of old oaks colonised by the endangered longhorn beetle Cerambyx cerdo LINNAEUS , 1758 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) Jörn Buse1, Petr Zabransky2 and Thorsten Assmann1 1 University of Lüneburg, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Chemistry, Germany 2 Mautner Markhof-Gasse 13-15/6/23, A-1110 Wien, Austria Abstract: Xylobionte Käferfauna alter Eichen, die von dem gefährdeten Bockkäfer Cerambyx cerdo besiedelt sind (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) Der Große Eichenbock (Cerambyx cerdo LINNAEUS , 1758) hat in Mitteleuropa in den letzten 100 Jahren einen dramatischen Rückgang in der Zahl der Vorkommen und in den Populationsgrößen erfahren. Als Frischholzbesiedler von Eichen beeinflusst die Art durch larvale Fraßtätigkeit die physiologischen Eigenschaften dieser Bäume sowie deren Beschaffenheit als Habitat für andere Organismen. Wir haben die Auswirkungen dieser Veränderungen auf die Zusammensetzung der holzbewohnenden Käferfauna bei verschiedenen taxonomischen und funktionalen Gruppen unter sucht. Dabei vergleichen wir die mit Lufteklektoren erzielten Fänge an 10 besiedelten und 10 unbesiedelten Eichen aus einem Untersu- chungsgebiet in Niedersachsen. Insbesondere viele seltene Bewohner von Baumhöhlen und Holzmulm profitieren von der Anwesenheit dieser Bockkäferart und den dadurch entstehenden Mikrohabitaten. Besiedelte Bäume beherbergen auch signifikant mehr Arten der Roten Liste. Wir diskutieren die Ei- genschaft von C. cerdo als Substratbereiter sowie die davon partizipierenden Arten. Freilich lässt nur ein Teil des Artenspektrums engere Zusammenhänge mit Besiedlung durch den Großen Eichenbock erkennen. Allerdings gehören auch Arten mit loser Beziehung zu Cerambyx cerdo über weite Strecken einer hochgradig bedrohten Käfergemeinschaft alternder Eichen an. Vor diesem Hintergrund sehen wir die unverzichtbare Rolle des Großen Eichenbockes in von Eichen geprägten Ökosystemen, wenn es um die Erhaltung der Artenvielfalt holzbewohnender Insekten geht. -

Old oaks (Quercus spp) are rare all over Europe and Turkey and members of the fauna living in these habitats are threatened. Nine stands with old hollow oaks, spread on fi ve areas, were studied in Turkey over 2005- 2009. In total 90 hollow oaks were studied. The studied oak species are Quercus cerris, Q. infectoria, Q. trojana, Q. libanii, Q. pubescens, Q. ithaburensis and Q. vulcanica. The same methods have been used for sampling the beetles: window traps on the tree trunk and pit fall traps in the wood mould inside the trunk cavities. The traps have been in fi eld from middle of April to the end of September during one season per area from 2005 to 2009. The studied areas are all situated 50-150 km from the southern Mediterranean coast at altitudes between 1100-1500 m except one at a lower altitude. Författare Author: Chipango Kamboyi Sammanfattning Abstract Oak habitats are rich in saproxylic species, but the habitat is declining with loss of diversity due to encroachment which decrease the vitality of oaks. The present explorative study compared results from a study conducted in 1994, with present species communities to observe if there has been change in species composition and what factors that can explain species diversity and composition. The results revealed that the overall species composition between 1994 and 2018 has changed. There were 130 species recorded in 2018 compared to 108 species in 1994 (31 new species were recorded in 2018, and 9 species lost from the study in 1994). There was a high species turnover recorded per individual tree, and the species composition between the living and encountered dead trees did not differ. -

Menacé d’extinction en Europe, il est inscrit en Annexe II de la directive « Habitats » dont l’objectif est d’assurer la préservation des habitats et des espèces d’intérêt communautaire au sein du réseau Natura 2000. Les gestionnaires d’espaces naturels où il est présent doivent assurer l’état de conservation de ses populations. Cependant, les difficultés de détection de l’espèce ont limité le développement des connaissances sur sa biologie et son écologie essentielles à la mise en place d’une stratégie de conservation. Cette lacune a motivé la réalisation de ce travail de thèse. Il commence par la compilation des données relatives à sa répartition: 184 localités à travers 17 pays. -

HOW SIMILAR IS THE SAPROXYLIC BEETLE FAUNA ON OLD OAKS (QUERCUS SPP.) IN TURKEY AND SWEDEN? 1 2 Nicklas JANSSON & Mustafa COSKUN RÉSUMÉ. — Quelle similitude de la faune saproxylique des vieux chênes (Quercus spp.) entre la Turquie et la Suède? — Le nombre des vieux chênes a chuté durant le siècle passé et les insectes saproxyliques associés au chêne sont l’un des groupes d’organismes les plus menacés dans l’ensemble de l’Europe et en Turquie. Les coléoptères des vieux chênes creux ont été étudiés en Suède et en Turquie avec des pièges à vitre et des pièges- fosses. Les familles les plus riches en espèces furent les Anobidae et les Tenebrionidae. Le nombre d’espèces de coléoptères saproxyliques était plus élevé sur les sites turcs que sur les suédois. Cela était le plus évident pour les Elateridae, Cleridae, Anobiidae et Tenebrionidae. Le recouvrement des listes de coléoptères saproxyliques entre les sites turcs et suédois était faible. Seules 14 (8%) des 166 espèces trouvées étaient communes aux sites des deux pays, la plupart étant des Tenebrionidae. Beaucoup des coléoptères trouvés sont des espèces rares qui fi gurent sur les listes rouges de beaucoup de pays européens. Un bon exemple en est Limoniscus violaceus trouvé sur l’un des sites turcs. C’est un coléoptère très rare sur l’ensemble de son aire de répartition européenne et il est inscrit en Annexe II de la Directive Habitat de la Communauté européenne. Trois espèces de la famille des Staphylinidae étaient nouvelles pour la science et ont été décrites comme Hesperus gozukarai, H. -
