Not many heavies on offer, sold to a top of £92 for 2 pens of 50kgs from Timmy Harris, St Tudy. 775 Store Hogg’s What a trade, the store Hogg’s are getting stronger by the week, a large entry of 775 on offer, from the small and hill bred Hoggs to the strongest Hogg’s on offer the over all average on the day was £69.51. There was a large crowd of buyers present and a lot more could have been sold as several went home empty handed. Over 30 pens realised £75, to a top of £83 from Nigel Vincent, St Veep, who also realised £82 and £80 with his other pens. Peter Jones of Treringey, Crantock, realised £82.50 and £80.50 for his Texel x Hogg’s. Mrs Glenda Taper of Polperro realised £81 for her Suffolk x Ewes. STORE CATTLE AUCTIONEER RICHARD DENNIS Storming trade for January at Hallworthy. Top call went to Mr A & JM Hembrow, with a superb run of forward Cattle, his top at £1235 for a single Simmental x Steer, his next a pen of 3 Simmental x Steers to £1190 and £1180 for a pen of 3. Also at £1190 was Mr C Davey of Delabole, with a long Limousin x Steer. R G Varcoe of St Wenn, Bodmin saw his top for a run of 15- 18 months to £1070 for a pair of blocky Simmental x Steers, a second pen of Limousin x to £970. Messrs Blewett & Partner of St Dennis, ran in with a young classy Limousin x Steer to £970. Top of the Friesian section went to AJ & M Hembrow with a single Fresian type to £900, with Blewett and Partners of St Dennis next with a super pen of Steers to £755. Top call for the Heifers went to G Dunker of Marahamchurch, with an outstanding British Blue Heifer, which raced away to £1100, with Mr Hembrow close behind with a pair of Simmental x Heifers to £1085. .
