Our Mission .. is providing a safe, reliable and courteous local bus, serving those rural and urban communities in our part of East Sussex not served by commercial companies. We are a registered charity and our buses have been serving the communities of the Cuckmere Valley and beyond, in beautiful East Sussex since 1976, taking people to their nearest towns for shopping, for appointments, or for pleasure. Everyone in our organisation is a trained volunteer and keen to look after you! Cuckmere Buses is the trading name for Cuckmere Community Bus Ltd Changes in this edition (September 2016) Service 40: Tuesday and Friday, return journeys serve Chilver Bridge by request Service 44: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday return journeys serve Chilver Bridge by request. Service 44: Thursday Operates with two buses and serves Stud Farm, Polegate 30 minutes later in the mornings. Service 125: Saturday - NEW CCB service - operates between Lewes, Alfriston and Eastbourne every three hours. This service replaces Compass Bus service 125 on Saturdays, which continues to operate Monday to Friday. Eastbourne Terminus Road Bus Stops: Due to the Eastbourne Arndale extension works, bus stops in Terminus Road may be moved to new stops in Cornfield Road and Gildredge Road during the life of this booklet. Please check the announcements on our buses and on our website for further information and timings. This timetable layout has changed and is in service number order, with an index to places served. We always need to expand our team of VOLUNTEERS Cuckmere Buses is a very busy voluntary organisation and a registered charity operating timetabled bus services and private hire seven days a week, 363 days a year.     Selmeston Conservation Area Selmeston Village Wealden District Council has designated part of Selmeston village as a Conservation Area - an area of special architectural or historic interest - so that its character and appearance may be preserved and enhanced. This booklet explains why the designation has been made and what it implies for residents and landowners in the area. Introduction Selmeston village, positioned just beyond the foot of the Sussex Downs, is a relatively small linear village and is primarily residential in nature. The village consists almost entirely of frontage development extending northwards from the A27. The tracks leading from the crossroads at Selmeston Church give access to the residential properties of Little Bells and Green House to the east and Sherrington Manor some way to the west. The historic core of the village can be considered to be the area immediately to the north of and including the Parish Church of St Mary. In this locality, the listed buildings date from the 17th Century and the Church, although mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1085, is of a 14th Century style but was largely reconstructed in 1867. Sherrington Manor also dates from around the 17th Century. Selmeston Church Appraisal In order to determine the boundary of the Conservation Area, a study was made of the features which contribute to the special character of the village: 1. Listed Buildings: There are 14 buildings in the village included on the Statutory List of Buildings of Architectural or Historic Interest, all of which are listed as Grade II. The oldest building in Selmeston is the Parish Church which is of a 14th Century style, but much of the structure was rebuilt in 1867 and very little of the original building now remains.

This aims to align this BAP with the Sussex Biodiversity Action Plan. The document also demonstrates the Board’s commitment to fulfilling its duty as a public body under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 to conserve biodiversity. Many of the Board’s activities have benefits and opportunities for biodiversity, not least its water level management and ditch maintenance work. It is hoped that this Biodiversity Action Plan will help the Board to maximise the biodiversity benefits from its activities and demonstrate its contribution to the Government’s UK Biodiversity Action Plan targets as part of the Biodiversity 2020 strategy. The Board has adopted the Biodiversity Action Plan as one of its policies and subject to available resources is committed to its implementation.
