TOUR SUMMARY

The 2011 USA Coaches Development Tour is a 16 day tour specifically designed for coaches wanting to learn from some of the very best College coaches in the United States.

The Tour will consist of coaching clinics at the following colleges:

 Duke University,  University of North Carolina,  Virginia Tech  UCLA.  Augusta State

Coaches will have the opportunity to visit each campus, watch training sessions, attend coach’s clinics to learn the latest training techniques and also have the opportunity to have a Question and Answer session with the basketball coaching staff.

The tour group will also conduct sessions called “Time Outs” in which we will share ideas and experiences within the group. Key Note speakers will be invited to attend these sessions. Also as part of the tour we will look to attend high school practices, NBA pre-season games and much more.

David has been organising basketball tours for schools and club teams for over 7 years. He has a thorough knowledge of basketball having played college basketball in the United States for four years and also spending two years at the Sydney Kings in the National Basketball League before his career was cut short due to a back injury. David’s experience enables him to organise all aspects of travel, including competition which includes games/tournaments, sanctioning with governing bodies, flights, accommodation, transport, and all sightseeing opportunities.

COACHING CLINIC REVIEWS

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA

The perennial power house of ACC basketball, UNC has a long history as one of the best programs in the country winning 6 NCAA Division 1 National Championships. Coach Roy Williams is winner of 2 NCAA championships and has a winning record of 614-155 in 22 seasons as head coach of the Tar heels with a record 18 NCAA final 4 appearances.

The Coaches Tour will attend two full UNC practices, attend Q/A sessions with UNC coaching staff and attend clinics on areas such as Strength and Conditioning, Point Zone Defence, Shooting drills, Fast break drills and Defensive Stations.

VIRGINIA TECH

Virginia Tech has seen a resurgence of its basketball program under coach Seth Greenberg. During the 2006-2007 regular season, Virginia Tech beat Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium and also beat top-ranked North Carolina in Blacksburg. The Hokies went on to beat fourth-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill that same season. The Virginia Tech Coaches Clinic will allow coaches the opportunity to learn from Head Coach Seth Greenburg and other Head Coaches from Local universities. The Coaches Tour will also watch two full VT training sessions.

AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY

Augusta State has a long been a powerhouse in the with 8 NCAA 2 appearances. Augusta State has two current Australian players on their roster in Kyle Armour ( WA) and Ben Purser (Perth WA). Head Coach Dip Metress has turned this program into a national power in his 5 years in the program. 2009 He was named PBC Coach of the Year with Augusta State ranked Number 4 nationally. Assistant Coach Robbie Mckinlay is another Aussie on the roster a former ABA player with Sutherland Sharks.

The coaches tour has been invited to visit the facilities, watch Augusta State conduct a training session and a Q/A session with the coaching staff. This close in session will gain a real insight in college basketball.

LANDER UNIVERSITY

Lander University competes in the Peach Belt Conference of the NCAA 2. Under 3rd year Head Coach Jeff Burkhamer the Bearcats are reinventing its program. Coach Burkhamer has a winning record of 71% before taking over at Lander. The coaches tour has a great opportunity to visit the facilities, watch a full Lander training session and an informal round table discussion with the coaching staff.

DUKE UNIVERSITY

Long regarded as the greatest college program of all time, Duke University under the legendary Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski has won 4 National Championships and 11 final fours. Coach K has coached the US National team since 2005 winning gold medals at the 2008 Olympics and 2010 World Championships. Coach K is a Hall of Fame Coach and regarded as the best of all time.

At the Duke Coaching Clinic the coaches tour will watch two full training sessions, Q/A with coach K himself, lectures from the Duke coaching staff and evening video and lecture sessions.

CAL STATE LONGBEACH

Long Beach play out of the Walter Pyramid Stadium one of only three Pyramids in the US and truly an amazing venue. The Men’s basketball program has had 8 NCAA tournament appearances, competing in the Big West Conference. Head Coach Dan Monson has personally invited the USA Coaches Tour to attend his training session, visit the facility and sit down with his coaching staff for an in depth one on one discussion about coaching Division 1 basketball.

UCLA

UCLA participate in the PAC-10 Conference and have a long history as a high performance program. Head Coach Ben Howland is rebuilding this once dominant program as he did at Pittsburg and Northern Arizona. Entering his seventh year as the Bruins' head coach in 2009-10, Howland has led UCLA to three straight Pacific-10 Conference titles (2006-08) and three consecutive Final Four appearances (2006-08).

Last year, Howland guided the Bruins to a 26-9 overall record and a 13-5 league mark to place second in the Pac-10. His Bruins have finished in the top three in the rugged Pac-10 for five consecutive seasons. The US Coaches Tour will attend the UCLA Coaches Clinic, visit the facilities, attend team practice and a 90 minute clinic with coach Howland.

CONDITIONS OF BOOKING – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

RESPONSIBILITY Gullivers Sport Travel Pty Ltd (which expression shall for the purpose of these conditions include and parents subsidiary affiliate or associated company and hereinafter shall be called “the Company”) acts only as agents for the hotels, airlines, bus or car companies, railroads, steamship lines, or owners or contractors providing accommodation, transportation or other services, and all coupons, exchange orders, receipts, contacts and tickets issued by the Company are issued subject to any and all tariffs, terms and conditions under which any accommodation, transportation or any other services whatsoever are provided by such hotels, airlines, bus or car companies, railroads, steamship lines or owners or contractors. All prices quoted are subject to change without notice having regards to unforeseen circumstances, foreign exchange fluctuations and variations in airline operating costs including but not limited to say an escalation of fuel prices. Unused services cannot be refunded or exchanged. The Company reserves the right to cancel the tour and/or modify the itineraries in any way it thinks desirable and further reserves the right to decline to accept any person or any tour and may substitute hotels where necessary. Tour Prices: Tour prices are based on costs in effect at 22 October, 2010. Costs will also depend on availability of hotels quoted on at time of booking. These costs are subject to the group travelling together throughout the tour. Any variation will incur an amendment fee and may also jeopardise the costs for the rest of the group. Prices are based on the tour numbers stipulated on the itinerary. Any change in tour numbers will result in a revised tour price. NB. Cancelled rooms may result in 100% cancellation fees from hotels. Payments Schedule : Initial Deposit - At time of booking : $500.00 per person (bookings will be made when deposit has been received in our office) Interim Payment - 6 and 4 month’s prior to departure : $1,500.00 per person Final Tour Payment - 2 month’s prior to departure Interim payments are not required for any tour to New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Australia or Flight Only bookings. Cancellation charges per tour member: (Notice of cancellation must be made in writing) Time of booking - 6 months prior to departure : $300.00 per person 6 – 2 months prior to departure : $1,000.00 per person 2 – 1 month prior to departure : 50% of total tour cost (airport taxes are refundable) 1 month prior to departure and after commencement of travel : Nil Refund Please note there may be specialised inclusions in your tour such as Train Tickets, Theatre Show tickets, instant purchase airline tickets etc that are non- refundable in addition to the above Cancellation Charges. These cancellation fees are in addition to any cancellation fees that may be levied by our tour suppliers. Amendment Fee : Any person wishing to amend from the group tour arrangements will be charged a standard $100.00 amendment fee per person plus any additional charges involved with the amendment (increase in airfare, additional transfers, accommodation etc). Documentation: Australian citizens require a passport with minimum 6 months validity from date of departure from final destination. Other passport holders may require additional documentation. Please check your applicable requirements with our Travel Consultant. A copy of each person’s passport is required. Baggage: Free baggage allowance one piece weighing maximum 20 kg plus 1 cabin bag (piece) of 115cm with a maximum weight of 5kg per person (please note these restrictions vary between airlines & depends on your destination). Luggage in excess of these limits will be charged for at the appropriate excess baggage rates. Baggage is the responsibility of the passenger at all times (Travel Insurance is strongly recommended). Insurance Protection: We strongly recommend you take out a Travel Insurance policy which is available from Gullivers Sport Travel. Policy booklets are available from Gullivers Sport Travel. Billeting: If billeting is included in your itinerary, every attempt will made to secure billeting as per the itinerary. In the case that billeting cannot be secured additional costs will be incurred for accommodation required. Airline & Airport Taxes, Surcharges & Levies : Are not included in the tour cost as they are continually changing. Any of these charges imposed by the airline will be notified to you at the time of final payment 2 months prior to departure.
