Wwcc Perry Lakes Hawks MESSAGE FROM THE CEO Dear Wolfpack Community, Welcome to our home game tonight as we welcome the Perry Lakes Hawks. Our home game crowd numbers have been fantastic so far, so I thank you for getting behind both teams in this unusual season. This season is a great opportunity for us to keep basketball alive and ticking in this state as many other states haven’t been able to play at all. It also means we can prepare for next year and experiment with our game night experience. The club has some big things planned for game nights next season so you may see some new initiatives tested over these last few home games. It is difficult for me having the dual roles to engage with our fans as much as I would like to on game night as I’m sure you can understand coaching the men is a huge focus for me on game nights. However, after the game please feel free to introduce yourself to me or come up for a quick chat. The players on both teams also enjoy meeting our members and fans and are always happy to give the kids a high five or an autograph. So please don’t be afraid to interact with them when you can. For the adults, the players are always accessible for a drink or a chat after the game upstairs in the Wolves Den. Not many sporting events can you attend and get to interact with the players in a social setting after the game so please come up and meet the Wolves. Get behind both teams tonight and visit our merch stand for your latest Wolves apparel. We have the opportunity to play against 2 of the best teams in the league back to back. Tonight we play against an experience and deep Hawks outfit lead by form Opal Nat Burton who is supported inside by the very underrated Sarah Donavan and the freshly out of a stellar college career Maddie Dennis. They proved last week that their presence inside is one to be reckoned with by dominating the Flames inside, we will have to be super conscious of those 3 girls and make sure we make them work both ways. Coach Black has done a great job of putting a balanced roster together with a good mix of youth and experience so we are really looking forward to the challenge tonight presents. Tomorrow night we head down the Kwinana to Rockingham to play against a really solid Flames team who have had Tayah Burrows on fire over this season. One of the top 5 scorers in the league we will need to know where she is every possession she is on the floor. They are by no means a one player band though with the experienced Chris Boag working the paint and Paris Duffield stretching the floor supported by the experienced Petrik and English. Rockingham is always a tough place to play with unique court set up and rowdy crowd so we’d love for as many Wolfpack fans to be there as possible to support us. Double Header weekends are the best with 2 opportunities for us to compete and keep improving while building towards what we hope is a successful end of season. Good luck to Andrew and the men over the weekend as well. This week we have a double header after coming off a tough road trip to Kalgoorlie. Unfortunately we were not able to get the job done against the Giants who were better on the night, however it was a good learning experience for our younger guys. Tonight we play the top of the table Perry Lakes Hawks and tomorrow take on the Rockingham Flames so its another big weekend for the group To say our team has undergone some changes would be an understatement. We have turned over an entire SBL team since March after losing 7 players during the COVID situation. Since then we rebuilt the team for West Coast Classic but have now undergone even more changes. We have lost our leading scorer and rebounder in Lee Roberts who has signed a pro contract in Israel which obviously leaves a gaping hole in our big man stocks. A few weeks ago we lost talented young big man Hamish Warden who signed a pro contract in Switzerland and Robbie Huntington has missed the last 3 games through injury. Add to that the fact that Ben Ironmonger is only available every 3 weeks due to work commitments and the challenge for us only gets greater from here. However that gives our young guys a great opportunity to get some valuable experience. Last week on the road 6 of our 10 players were under the age of 21 and over the last few weeks we have started several teenagers. Archie Hall had a great game and Matt Teale and Kade Muru continue to gain valuable learning from these games. We wish Lee and Hamish all the best overseas and hope to see them back in green next year. Tonight will be a great game against the 7-1 Perry Lakes Hawks. They are well coached and play hard. They have an experienced group who have played together a while and seem to have everything clicking during the WCC. It will be a great test to see how we compare against the top team in the league at the moment. It was great to see we had fans make the trip to Kalgoorlie and Mandurah over the last few weeks. The support you give us is incredible and you truly are the best fans in the league. Thanks to all the Wolfpack sponsors, members, volunteers and staff for your support. • Game Program: Suns Vs Tigers
GAMEDAY the official program of the Kalamunda eastern suns round 1 - 2020 west coast classic saturday 25 july V willetton Tigers hi suns family and welcome to our long awaited home game opener for 2020. What a bizarre year this has been, many people are saying this is the biggest global disruption since WW2. It is certainly the craziest thing I have seen in my lifetime. We are definitely blessed to be living in this isolated pocket of the world, we should all be pretty happy to be in WA right now, I know I am! Our basketball activities were clearly impacted to a huge degree and in some respects still well and truely are. We are all very thankful to be here tonight, we would have already played an away game last night but nothing beats that first home game and even more so at the moment. The West Coast Classic has allowed us to be very flexible and is a great opportunity to try some new things, experiment and most of all it is a massive opportunity to work on development across many aspects from players and coaches right through to Tom Knowles many of the processes that go into prepping these WSBL head Coach teams for the season and playing week to week. We have a very exciting group this year and we think you will enjoy watching them compete. A number of pretty major injuries were impacting us last season, Georgia Adams nursed a shattered ankle for the entire season and had surgery post season to repair multiple issues & Alecia returned to play in a limited capacity late last season after a knee reconstruction.

  • Slammers 17Th July(1)
It has been a busy few weeks in the Hawks Nest with Ben Purser breaking the club record for games played against the East Perth Eagles on July 10th. A special presentation will be made to Ben at our home game against the Willetton Tigers on Friday July 23rd. We have our new bar opening for NBL1 West games in the Ellis room. This proved to be a big success on opening night with many spectators taking the opportunity to watch the game from behind the glass listening to the commentary on the big screen while enjoying a beverage. Last weekend also saw our league take part in Indigenous Round and our teams proudly wore the uniforms designed by Phil Walley-Stack who attended our game on July 11th and did a Welcome to Country and explained the story around the uniform design. School Holidays have seen the Hawks/Redhage Basketball Camps underway with nearly 300 young basketballers attending across Bendat Basketball Centre and Lords. A large contingent of our NBL1 West players are coaching and passing on their skills and knowledge. We have our Hawks Quiz night fundraiser approahing on Saturday August 7th so get a table together and if you can donate any prizes please contact us.
