This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ also known as Corpus Christi

What does this mean in our faith and to each of us personally?

Christ said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh” (Jn 6:51).

Christ is with us! Christ is with us every day in our faith, and physically with us when we receive the Eucharist.

When you pray to Christ, pray as if He were beside you because He is with each of us wherever we go. When you receive the Eucharist, do not casually ‘go through the motions.’ Prepare through prayer and realize you are receiving Christ both physically, strengthening our bodies and spiritually, strengthening our faith. Christ is with us.

Our faith tells us that believing in Christ leads to our salvation. True, but believing in Christ means that we must act on what we believe in faith. We must act as Christ would act in our circumstance. We need to determine what that means to each of us individually and as a part of the larger faith community.

Take time this week as we celebrate the real presence of Christ in our faith and in our lives. Pray for guidance on how to better live as Christ will guide us. Celebrate your life with Christ. How will the rest of the world recognize that Christ is in you?

Under the circumstances, we cannot enjoy the peaceful time of adoration during exposition in our chapel, but we can spend time with Jesus in quiet prayer wherever we are. Stop, kneel and pray. The self-isolation and social distancing rules do not stop us from spending time in prayer with Jesus. Some of us are out of work due to the virus. Take this time to build a stronger, more intimate relationship with Jesus in time of prayer.

Christ is with us! Celebrate that reality.

Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a condition where different body parts can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs. It is unclear what causes MIS-C. What we do know is that many children diagnosed with MIS-C had the virus that causes COVID-19, or had been around someone with COVID-19. This syndrome is serious and for some deadly. However, according to the CDC, most children who were diagnosed with this condition have gotten better with medical care. The symptoms of MIS-C include: fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, neck pain, bloodshot eyes and feeling extra tired. If your child exhibits these symptoms, contact your child’s doctor or clinic. Be aware that not all children will have all the same symptoms. Seek emergency care immediately if your child shows any of the emergency warning signs of: trouble breathing, pain or pressure in the chest that won’t go away, confusion, inability to wake or stay awake, bluish lips or face, and severe abdominal pain. Doctors will most likely do tests to look for inflammation or other signs of the disease, such as: blood tests, chest x- ray, heart and abdominal ultrasounds. Doctors may prescribe medications to treat inflammation, give medicine and/or fluids to make your child feel better. Most children who become ill with MIS-C will need to be treated in the hospital and some will need treatment in a pediatric intensive care unit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating this illness to learn more about MIS-C in children in order to communicate information to healthcare providers and parents along with local and state health departments. CDC recommendations are based on the best data and science available at the time. As parents, the best way you can protect your child is by taking everyday actions to prevent your child and your household from getting the virus that causes COVID-19.

HUMILITY AND FAVOR OF THE LORD “The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself so you will find favor in the sight of the Lord. For great is the might of the Lord, but by the humble He is glorified.” (Sirach 3:18,20) What is humility? Surrendering to the Will of God in complete obedience of faith. Right? “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Mathew 28:18) The greater He was, though Son of God, He humbled himself through complete obedience and didn’t glorify himself. When we are faced with situations and trials in our life do we humble ourselves as Jesus did? Through His humility, His name is glorified. In humility, we receive the mercy and favor of the Lord. Let us imitate the example of our Blessed Mother who humbled herself and received the favor of God. She was exalted and generations call her “Blessed”. Nothing happens in our life without the knowledge of God. If He is the Captain of our life, why do we hesitate to throw ourselves into His hands in complete Faith? “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. “(James 4:10) Let us pray: Our Father in heaven, we need this greatest virtue of humility in our life to exalt You, to glorify You above all things in our life and to put our complete trust in You. We ask this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
