Students from Sandringham East Primary and St Leonard’s College will also perform along with Theatre De La DanSe Special Guest - Michael Cormick Michael Cormick is an internationally renowned singer and actor with a diverse career throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe. Australian credits include Beauty and the Beast (The Beast) - for which he won an Australian MO Award, Cats (Munkustrap), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Pharoah), Grease (Kenickie), Sunset Boulevard (Joe Gillis), The Rocky Horror Show (Eddie/Dr. Scott), Mamma Mia ! (Sam), Annie (Daddy Warbucks) Next To Normal (Dr Madden) and Blood Brothers (The Narrator). His international credits include lead roles in The Phantom of the Opera, Calamity Jane, Romeo & Juliet, Chess, Evita, End of the Rainbow and Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White opposite Simon Callow and Anthony Andrews. Michael has also performed in concert throughout Europe, including Rome, Paris, Edinburgh and Cyprus. Along with frequent television appearances including Carols by Candlelight and the Terry Wogan Show (BBC London), Michael has featured as a guest performer in the Royal Command performances of The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables in London, the Australian Football League Grand Final entertainment, the official opening of Stadium Australia and the opening of the Christmas Festival at Royal Albert Hall, London. 4 Soloist - Morgan Dooley - Axup Morgan is and has always has been a performer at heart. At 20 years of age she is about to undertake her final year in her bachelor’s degree of Music Theatre. Morgan hopes to continue her performance career on stage in the all fields of singing, acting and dancing. Bayside Carols has been a wonderful opportunity to share her passion with such a fantastic audience. Soloist - Jacob Cunningham Jacob has performed with the Victorian Opera Company, has sung on ABC’s top rating documentary ‘Operatunity Oz’, performed as a soloist at Australian Music Events ‘Opera in the Alps’ and subsequent performances at ‘Opera in the Market’ and ‘Opera by the Lock’. He has also performed many solo recitals, concerts and corporate functions and worked with amateur theatre productions. These include; ‘Pirates of Penzance’ (Sergeant of Police), ‘West Side Story’ (Tony) and ‘South Pacific’ (Emile de Becque) where he won a Music Theatre Beatrice Harris Hart Beatrice is 18 years old and has just completed VCE at FIrbank Grammar School. During this time she undertook the VCE subject of music performance and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beatrice has been apart of the Firbank’s Senior auditioned Choir, Bel canto for 3 years now and in her last was made the Bel Canto Leader. Beatrice has also been an active member of the Senior Orchestra throughout her whole time at the school. Beatrice also plays the violin and completed AMEB grade 8 three years ago. For many years Beatrice auditioned for MYM and successfully joined them in each, having a wondering time with inspiring musical mentors. Beatrice hopes to continue her musical studies and join a choir outside the walls of Firbank next year at university. Guild of Victoria Award (Best Junior Performer). 5 Soloist - Hannah Kostros Hannah’s passion for singing started at an early age, fostered by the Young Voices of Melbourne Choir, conducted by Mark O’Leary. She went on to be awarded a singing scholarship to Firbank Grammar School, where she was awarded Music Captain in year 12. In 2011 and 2012 Hannah won the “Doris Berwick Award” for the Eisteddfod By The Bay, Ringwood Lions Club scholarship and an Honorable Mention at the Royal South Street Competition. Hannah has completed her second year of Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and has performed in several productions, including Wagner’s epic Ring Cycle this year. Soloist - Bria Rechner Bria has been involved with music since a young age. Being part of both school and church choirs whilst being a school choir leader, Bria discovered music was her passion and endeavoured VCE Music studies and is hoping to continue studying music at university. Bria has been part of two international choral tours the highlight of which was first place at the Summa Cum Laude Yourh International Music Festival in Vienna, Austria. Soloist - Raphael Wong Raphael is fast becoming a regular in Melbourne’s opera and theatre scene. 2016 has seen him in a variety of roles as a soloist and chorus member with Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Lyric Opera of Melbourne, CitiOpera and Gertrude Opera, as well as various music societies across Victoria. Raphael was runner up in the National Liederfest Competition and a finalist in the Herald Sun Aria Competition. 6 Soloist - Beau Woodbridge Beau made his professional debut at age 9 playing Gustave in Love Never Dies. He then went on to play lead roles as Michael Banks in the Australian Tour of Mary Poppins, Jeremy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Louis Leonowens in The King and I. Beau also recorded Three Blind Mice for the Australian stage production of Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap. Another highlight was performing with David Hobson at Carols by Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl. As a Bayside resident Beau is exciting to be performing once again at the Bayside Carols.” Theatre De La DanSe Theatre De La DanSe is a Bayside dance school catering for students from toddlers to adults. Classes offered include Tinytots, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hiphop, Contemporary, Glee, Acro, VCE Dance, Zumba, and Boys only classes. The youngest of six children, Tommy was born in 1971 in Aclare, County Sligo. His natural singing ability was evident at a young age whilst participating in local talent competitions. While still at school, Tommy formed his first rock band, The Face of February, and embarked on gigging in local pubs. After leaving school Tommy joined a quartet, Jarog, gaining a legion of fans. However, despite this success, record companies weren’t exactly knocking on Tommy’s door. Then a chance encounter with renowned producer and composer Phil Coulter changed all that. In July 1993, Phil heard Tommy performing at a charity event in Westport, County Mayo. Within days Tommy was guesting with Phil and his orchestra at the Opera House (Cork), the National Concert Hall (Dublin) and The University Concert Hall (Limerick). Four months later he was playing to huge audiences across the US and Canada, culminating in two shows in the Boston Symphony Hall and the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York. Tommy’s career then took another leap forward when he was invited by Galway traditional group De Danann, to join them as lead vocalist, following in the footsteps of living legends as Mary Black, Maura O’Connell, Dolores Keane and Paul Brady. The collaboration lasted three years and introduced Tommy to a worldwide audience touring Australia, Hong Kong, China and the US.

    John Russell’s experience John Russell, Soldiers’ Band member 1972–1974 from the UK has fond memories of his time in Ballarat. I started my involvement in music at a young age. First, trying the violin at about three years of age and taught by my father who was a good amateur violinist. In fact I really do not remember learning to read music; it just happened. Several years were spent at the piano and finally the cornet and trumpet. I played with an assortment of bands in and around my home town of Northampton both pure brass and also big bands for dances. All the time listening and learning from those around me. Finally I was off to uni to become a teacher with interests in both science and maths. Whilst in College Hall I met up with a fellow student and was introduced the ‘A’ Grade band sponsored by Watneys Brewery. The two guys that ran this band, Albert Meek (MD for the Royal Scots Greys) and its principal cornet Gwynne Price were also tutors at the army school of music, Kneller Hall, and were valuable contributors to my development as a player. I certainly had several interesting years with this band. However, in contesting terms there was another band in London that always seem to make top spot: Hanwell Silver Band. In due course I got invited to join Hanwell on soprano cornet and spent the rest of my time in England with them. Yes, many ‘A’ Grade contests were won and a number of recordings made.

    Colin Lane Comedian / Professional Show Off As the ‘Lano’ from Lano & Woodley, Colin Lane was one half of Australia’s favourite comedy duo. They won comedy’s Oscar, the Perrier Award, and their series The Adventures of Lano & Woodley played in more than 30 countries. In 2006 they said Goodbye with a tour that played to 125,000 people in 34 towns. Since the farewell tour, Colin has toured to cabaret and comedy festivals around Australia, most notably teaming up with the hilarious David Collins from The Umbilical Brothers to tackle Gilbert and Sullivan in The 3 Mikados. In 2013, he was a guest panellist on UK favourite QI alongside Stephen Fry and Alan Davies, and has returned several times since – most recently in 2019 on the new-look, Sandi Toksvig-hosted version of the hugely popular show. He has worked with both Red Stitch under director Nadia Tass, and The Production Company, in “Curtains”. He’s also teamed up with his friend of 25 years, opera singer David Hobson, for “In Tails”. They sing, dance and even tell some jokes in a unique and hilarious experiment that entertains and beguiles in a whole new way. Colin reunited with Frank Woodley as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival 30th Birthday Bash at the Regent Theatre in 2016, for a surprise performance that brought the house down. They are soon joined by their roommates, Colline, a young philosopher, and Schaunard, a musician who has landed a job bringing them all food, fuel and money. While they celebrate their unexpected fortune, the landlord, Benoit, arrives to collect the rent. Plying the older man with wine, the Bohemians urge him to tell of his flirtations, then throw him out in mock indignation at his infidelity to his wife. Schaunard proposes that they celebrate the holiday at the Café Momus. Rodolfo remains behind to try to finish an article, promising to join them later.
